Landcare (CWFWS) Landcare - Cardigan Windermere Friends of Winter Swamp (CWFWS)

It is member of the Upper Mt Emu Landcare Network, which is in the top-most catchment area of the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority, and as an urban-rural landcare group, has many issues similar to the Miner’s Rest Landcare Group and the Invermay Landcare Group who are also members of the Upper Mt Emu Landcare Network. The group receives funding via Government grants for tree planting

, board walks, environmental care and funding via the Gorse Task Force for gorse control work. The current group has a small member base of around 10-15 people, annual membership is $11-, for families. At present there are regular working bees arranged every 3rd Saturday of the month and the team meets at the Lucas Lane round about near the Windmill Caravan park at 10:00 am to work until 12 pm. The working bees involve revegetation, w**d removal, maintenance eg removal of old fences and fire hazards, checking and maintaining a walk way around Winter Swamp. Other activities are rubbish clean-up along roadsides of the local Landcare area, arranging for gorse-control actions and communication with local people if the opportunity arises regarding local landcare issues. If people are interested and want to join the local landcare group, this is best done by attending a working bee or registering via e-mail with the president Sandra Dillon details are [email protected]
