A call out to residents in the 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 (𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 / 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮) in particular.

Council invites residents to suggest names for several unnamed parks and reserves across the municipality.

The 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 has asked that the reserve at the east end of Cardigan Village be included in this initiative.

This project is about giving these parks proper, recognised names that reflect Ballarat’s history, identity and community.

Your suggestions via MySay can help recognise local people, histories and contributions that deserve to be remembered.

🌲The Cardigan Village Hall Committee is planning something Merry and Bright for Cardigan Village this December, and we want you to be part of it🌲

Sunday, 7 December 2025
4pm ~ 7pm at the
Cardigan Village Community Hall & Surrounding Grounds.

We’re now calling for expressions of interest from locals who’d like to participate in the Cardigan Village Christmas Market.

🚨Do you create handmade goods, crafts, beauty products, baked treats, or have a local business you’d like to promote?
We’d love to have you join us at the Cardigan Christmas Market!

✨ This is your chance to Showcase your creations to the local community. Meet new customers and spread some festive cheer.

Stall fee: Only $5 per table

What to Expect:

⭐️Market Stalls - (from CV locals).

⭐️Food Vans - a variety of delicious food will be available.

⭐️Classic Car Display. Dust off your ride or come and admire others.

🎅 A Special Visit from Santa himself, because no Christmas event is complete without him.

This will be a family-friendly afternoon of community celebration, showcasing the amazing talent and spirit we have right here in Cardigan Village.

The Cardigan Village Community Hall Committee is calling for residents of the Cardigan Village community to join this committee to help manage and facilitate the local hall.

The commitment to this committee is very minimal with around 6 short meetings a year.

We invite community members to attend our meeting next Monday evening 7th October and consider whether they would like to join us to help manage and promote this community asset.

The Cardigan Village Hall, a City of Ballarat facility is managed on behalf of our community by the 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲.

Activities and responsibilities include hiring, cleaning, minor improvements and reporting to council. Major building maintenance and improvements are carried out by council.

The committee recently submitted its 2024/2025 activity report to the City of Ballarat.
Over the last 12 months we have put in a lot of time and effort, with council’s assistance to identify and resolve various outstanding maintenance issues and make improvements to assist in the running the community facility.

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿
• a thorough cleaning/deep cleaning of all areas
• repair and resurfacing of the vinyl flooring and securing of handrail in the disability toilet
• repair of wiring of hand dryers
• testing and tagging all electrical appliances
• replacement of the expired AED (defibrillator) pads and batteries
• establishing the Cardigan Village Community Hall page
• various new administrative activities and processes to support ongoing management

𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱
• three afternoon teas for the village over 55s
• six private bookings by community members
• one ongoing weekly booking by a craft group

Committee members also supported Council’s park redevelopment community consultation day with a free BBQ, tea, coffee and beverages.

The committee continues to work with council to improve the facility and we have identified the need for improved landscaping and signage around the entrance area which we hope will be addressed in the coming year.

One of our community members, 7 year old Jahluvi, will be holding a Solo Art Exhibition at the Cardigan village Community Hall.

He will also be conducting three School Holiday Paint and Sip Workshops on Monday 22 September for aspiring young artists.

The opening night is Sunday 21 September 2025
