Country of Study - Ukraine ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
The Tryzub (Trident) is the official National Emblem of Ukraine, featuring a golden trident on a blue shield. Formally adopted 19 February 1992. It symbolises unity, freedom, and historical continuity.

The Tryzub originates in the 10th-century Kyivan Rus' era, where it served as a dynastic emblem. It was used by Prince Volodymyr the Great on coins. It was banned under Soviet rule.

Significance: Today, it serves as a powerful symbol of Ukrainian resilience and resistance against the Russian invasion, frequently appearing in tattoos, jewelry, and modern art.

This National Volunteer Week (18โ€“24 May), weโ€™re celebrating something uniquely CWA of WA, the power of contribution.

Across Western Australia, our members donโ€™t just โ€œvolunteer.โ€ They belong, they show up and they make a difference in ways that strengthen entire communities.

In the CWA, contribution looks like:
๐Ÿ’™ organising local events
๐Ÿ’™ advocating for change
๐Ÿ’™ sharing skills and wisdom
๐Ÿ’™ fundraising for those in need
๐Ÿ’™ being a steady, caring presence in their town/community

Members donโ€™t join the CWA to โ€œbe a volunteer.โ€ They join because they care and that care becomes action.

This National Volunteer Week we honour every member who gives her time, voice, skills or support in a way that fits her life.

Thank you for contributing. Thank you for caring. Thank you for being part of CWA of WA.

A game of 2 up - Head and Shoulders of which we thought was rigged with each toss being Head and Shoulders for the first game round.
Entertaining performances from the girls from the Dance school.
Guest Speaker Hayley Tuck from Solaris Care who gave valuable information.
Another Guest Speaker who gave his incredible personal experience with Cancer and how giving blood ๐Ÿฉธis one vital way of giving support to the cause and those struggling with Cancer.
A CWA Eaton trades table and plant stall sales.
Door prizes and lots of Sensational Raffles
Our member Rosina won a pretty parcel with 1 of the table tickets under the seat and 1 of the Sensational Raffles the Big Basket ๐Ÿงบ as shown in the photo.
So nice to continuously catch up with familiar faces and our CWA sisters from other Branches like Eaton and Bunbury who were there today.
Thank you CWA Eaton Branch ๐Ÿ’™ and all the sponsors of the prizes.

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, carers and mother figures whose strength, kindness and quiet dedication help shape our families and communities every day. ๐Ÿ’

Across Western Australia, members of CWA of WA continue a proud tradition of care, connection and service; supporting one another through friendship, advocacy and community spirit.

Whether today brings joy, quiet reflection or memories of loved ones, weโ€™re thinking of everyone spending Motherโ€™s Day in their own special way. ๐Ÿ’™

Country of Study - Ukraine ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
At Mezhyrich in Ukraine, Ice Age communities constructed dwellings from hundreds of mammoth bones and tusks - structures believed to have been used for roughly 400 years as shelter against extreme cold.

Among the siteโ€™s most remarkable discoveries is the โ€œMezhyrich map,โ€ a 15,000-year-old engraving on a mammoth tusk. Considered one of the earliest known maps to mankind, it is thought to depict a riverside settlement, offering a rare glimpse into how these early people understood and represented their surrounding landscape.

Big shout out and Thank you to the Shire of Capel staff for organising and fitting our new CWA sign that is out the front of our Capel Senior Citizens/CWA Centre.
It was such a surprise to discover first thing this morning when setting up for our ~ Market Day ~

After loosing our original CWA Restrooms in 2017 that was on Proper-john street Capel, where now just a plaque on site is left to remind us.
We feel at home ๐Ÿ  now and finally have a place of identity.
