After weeks of scraping, sanding and hard work, the Young People are finally laying down the base coat on their bike frames. 🚲

A fresh layer of primer might seem like a small step, but moments like this represent patience, persistence and pride in the process.

Nothing worth building happens overnight. 🤝

Before the bikes, the tools and the busy day ahead… we stop to listen, learn and ground ourselves in the stories of the land.

Busy days move fast.
These yarns remind us to slow down and stay connected to something bigger than ourselves.

We’re grateful to have Ambrose as part of the mentor team at TRACTION - sharing knowledge, perspective and culture with the Young People who walk through the doors each day.

Not every part of building bikes is exciting 😅

Sometimes it’s sanding frames, sweeping floors and doing the repetitive stuff… but somehow the young people still find a way to make it fun 😂🛠️

Music on, dancing around, laughing with each other- making the most of the ordinary moments 🙌

And honestly, that mindset matters! Because life isn’t always huge exciting moments, a lot of it is how you choose to show up for the everyday stuff ✨

Meet Cindy 👋

Born and raised in Toowoomba, Cindy knows this community like the back of her hand. It’s where she grew up, went to school, built her career and raised her family and now she’s helping local young people build confidence and back themselves too!

Whether it’s having a laugh in the workshop, helping a young person work through a challenge or simply showing up consistently, Cindy brings real care and connection to every young person she mentors.

We’re pretty lucky to have locals like Cindy in the corner of young people across Toowoomba 💛

Because this program was never just about building bikes.

It’s about patience. Perseverance. Learning to stay with something when it gets frustrating.

Building confidence through doing difficult things.
The finished bike matters, but the belief built along the way matters even more.
