What a wonderful way to commemorate Polish independence and celebrate the last day of May at Majówka! 🇵🇱☀️

The day began with the 1918m Independence Fun Run, a symbolic distance marking the year Poland regained its independence. We were delighted to welcome so many participants and families. Congratulations to all the runners and participants, and thank you to Councillor Jason Colley for joining us.

Throughout the day, children and families enjoyed handcrafted arcade games, endless volleyball matches, delicious Polish food, and a warm community atmosphere. As the afternoon drew to a close, we gathered around the fire for a relaxing singalong, celebrating friendship and togetherness.

A huge thank you goes to all the incredible volunteers who helped make the day possible. From planning and preparation to cooking, setting up, running activities, and packing away, your dedication and teamwork created a truly memorable family day for our community.

Wonderful news! Poland’s basketry tradition has just been added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — becoming the seventh Polish tradition to receive this honour! 🇵🇱🧺✨

It’s a beautiful and perfectly timed recognition, as we’re excited to share that SPK No.8 Qld has been awarded an Redland City Council Regional art development fund RADF.
This funding will allow us to learn traditional weaving techniques directly from master weavers in Poland, bring this knowledge back to the Redlands, and share these skills with our community.

Keep an eye out — more information about upcoming workshops and opportunities to learn these precious techniques with us is coming soon!

We would like to inform you with sadness about the passing of Ela (Elzunia) Rejmer.
Elzunia was a former member of the ZHP Pomorze. Rejmer family served at ZHP Pomorze for many decades as instructors and members.
Details of the funeral:

Venue: Kate Mary Chapel, 53 Brookes St. Bowen Hills QLD 4006
Burial and wake will take place after the funeral ceremony.
