πŸ”¨ Construction Day was a huge hit in Gawler!

What an incredible event at Dads Group Gawler, dads and kids building, creating, and connecting together. Moments like these are exactly what this community is all about. πŸ’™

We were also thrilled to welcome Mayor Nathan Shanks - Town of Gawler, Matt Burnell MP, Federal Member for Spence, and Councillor Cody Davies - Town of Gawler, thank you for coming along to see the program in action and for your continued support. πŸ™

The event even made the local news and for good reason! Organisers have called it a "massive success", with familiar community faces turning out alongside local volunteers and government officials who helped bring it all together. A special thank you to the dad volunteers, especially Zoe Medlen, for their dedication and hard work on the day. πŸ“°βœ¨

A massive shoutout to our incredible volunteers, especially Kim Wright, whose passion and hard work make Dads Group Gawler the special place it is. We couldn't do it without you! ❀️

Dads Group aims to provide a wonderful opportunity for fathers and their children to spend quality time together, make new connections, and support one another.

To every dad and kid who showed up, thank you for making it such a great morning. We can't wait to do it again! πŸ› οΈπŸ‘¦

Hey dad, how are you really going? πŸ’™

June is a new month, and that means it's a good time to pause, take a breath, and check in with yourself, not just the to-do list.

It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of parenting, work, and life admin. But when's the last time you actually asked yourself: Am I getting enough sleep? Have I talked to someone I trust? Am I doing something I enjoy?

You don't have to have it all together. Being a dad is hard work, and you don't have to do it alone.

Swipe through for a quick mental check-in, just for you. πŸ‘‰πŸ’™

What an incredible shoutout, thank you so much! πŸ™Œ Events like the Dads Construction and Junior Tradies Day are exactly what community is all about, dads and father figures showing up, getting hands-on, and making memories with their little ones. πŸ”¨πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

A huge thank you to Matt Burnell MP, Mayor Nathan Shanks - Town of Gawler, Kim Wright, Will Shave, and the entire Dads Group Gawler team for making this happen. It takes a village, and we're so grateful for everyone who pours their time and heart into these moments. πŸ’™

This is what changing a generation of fatherhood looks like, one Saturday, one little tradie at a time. 🧰✨

There are people in every community who give without being asked, who show up without being called, and who pour their heart into making life a little better for everyone around them. πŸ’™

For 25 years, Kim Wright has been a steady, warm presence in Gawler, walking alongside families through tough times, championing dads, and reminding us all that community is built one genuine connection at a time.

And then there's Jaime and Will, two dads who show up, not for the applause, but because they believe in something bigger than themselves. Because they know what it means to have someone in your corner.

Kim was recently named a Gawler 2026 Australia Day Ambassador and awarded the inaugural Philippa Dean Award, a beautiful recognition of a lifetime of quiet, selfless service. πŸ™

To Kim, Jaime, Will, and every volunteer who gives so much of themselves, thank you.

Truly. What you do matters more than words can say. πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Mayor Nathan Shanks - Town of Gawler and Matt Burnell MP for your relentless support for including fathers in the perinatal period. Thank you as well to Dan Repacholi MP, Ged Kearney and Mark Butler MP, the South Australia Dads Group program could be the future foundations of Australian father inclusive parenting programs.

Thanks so much for having us, and for sharing this! πŸ™ It was a brilliant trip, the conversations we had with local dads in Mount Isa were real, honest and genuinely moving. Huge thanks to Dan Repacholi MP for making the time to come and listen directly to the blokes on the ground. That means a lot.

The golf afternoon was a highlight, proof that connection doesn't always need a formal setting, just a bit of space, some fresh air, and good company. 🏌️

We couldn't agree more: helping fathers helps families, and stronger families build stronger communities. There's so much goodwill and need out there in regional Queensland, we're committed to showing up for it. πŸ’ͺ

As part of our Mount Isa trip recap, we had to share this one. πŸ’™

Mount Isa Mayor, Peta Macrae, said it perfectly, families work better when both parents are involved. Dads are not just breadwinners. They are role models, present figures and one of the most important influences in a child's life.

We are so grateful for the warm welcome from Mayor Macrae and the entire Mount Isa community during our three day visit. From hospital visits to golf nights to everything in between, this city gets it.

This is exactly the kind of community backing that makes the Dads Group mission possible. πŸ‘Š

That's a wrap on Mount Isa. πŸ’™

Three days. Schools, hospitals, barbershops, golf courses, family centres and everything in between. And what a three days it was.

We'll let Dan Repacholi MP take it from here, but what stood out most to him was the integrated care happening right here in Mount Isa. Dads being looked after alongside mums and bubs. Families being set up for a safe and healthy home from day one. That's the work. That's exactly why we do this.

To every dad, family, nurse, teacher, community leader and local legend who gave us their time this week, thank you. Mount Isa, you showed up in the biggest way. πŸ‘Š

Stay tuned! We'll be sharing more recaps, moments and stories from the trip over the coming days. You won't want to miss them. πŸ’™

Two of the stops from today's big day in Mount Isa. πŸ’™

First up, Barclay Highway State School, celebrating 50 years of education in this region. Dan Repacholi MP and the Dads Group team sat down with local parents and young families over coffee, talking about what it really means to show up as a dad in your child's early years.

Later in the day, Mount Isa Hospital, looking at how we can better include fathers in integrated care from day one. Because dads belong in those spaces too.

Dan said it best: "We always want to be better than the father before us." That's exactly why we're here. πŸ‘Š

Generational change starts with conversations like these. And today, Mount Isa delivered. πŸ’™

22/05/2026

Day 3 in Mount Isa and the biggest day of the trip is here. πŸ’™

Dan Repacholi MP is spending the full day with the Dads Group team in Mount Isa!

Schools. A barbershop. A hospital ward. A golf course. An Indigenous family centre. And Bucket Golf with kids and dads to close it out.

And if last night was anything to go by, Mount Isa is ready. We thought five or six dads would show up to golf night. Over 30 registered. This community keeps showing up and it means everything.

Here's what our CEO, Thomas Docking, has to say about how amazing it is to see some of the dads yesterday and what he is looking forward to today. Let's go! πŸ‘Š
