We are delighted to announce Makaylah Fenwick as an NSWROA sponsored rider for Equimillion 2026. She will be teaming up with The Garret in the 100cm and 110cm showjumping classes.

Gazza, as he is affectionately known, raced 29 times for Newcastle Racecourse trainer Paul Perry and notched one win and two places.

Makaylah adopted him straight off the track nine years ago and they have since formed a highly successful partnership.

Makaylah rides trackwork for Kris Lees Racing and is on her way to achieving her dream of being a jockey.

We are delighted to announce Emma Cox | Show Horses | Australia as NSWROA’s sponsored rider for Equimillion 2026.

She will be teaming up with Eric The Eel who enjoyed a hugely successful racing career in Hong Kong and Australia. Trained by Kendrick Racing then Mark Newnham Racing, the 10yo Olympic Glory (IRE) x Modave (NZ) gelding amassed more than $4.5million in prizemoney before retiring in 2024.

Emma and Eric will contest the Amateur Ridden Show Thoroughbred and Amateur Preliminary Dressage classes on the October long weekend.

Emma is the Assistant Principal at Eastlakes Public School and we are sure her students will join us in cheering her on 👏

NSWROA is proud to announce the 2025/26 finalists for its flagship awards event, Racing’s Night of Champions.

35 horses have been recognised for outstanding performances throughout the racing season.

The winners will be crowned at a black-tie gala dinner in the Winx Stand on Thursday, 27th August 2026.

Calling all equestrians competing on an NSW Thoroughbred! We want YOU!

The NSW Racehorse Owners Association will be sponsoring one horse and rider for Equimillion 2026. Equestrians of any discipline are welcomed.

To be considered for sponsorship you must:
🏡 Live in NSW
🔞 Be aged 18 or older today
🏇Have leased or owned your Thoroughbred since at least 1st March 2026
📹 Be willing to share your preparation for Equimillion on social media
🏆 The chosen rider will be invited to be part of Racing’s Night of Champions, the industry’s premier awards gala, on Thursday, 27th August 2026

Please email your name, contact details, classes you intend to enter, horse’s race name, social media handles, a photo or short video of you and your horse in action, and up to 200 words about why you and your horse should be sponsored to [email protected] by no later than 6pm Sunday, 16th August 2026. The sponsored rider and horse will be announced via social media on Wednesday, 19th August 2026.
