📸 A Gentle Request When Rescuing Macropod Joeys 💔🦘

When attending a deceased kangaroo or wallaby, our focus is always on checking for and rescuing any surviving joey from the pouch.

During these difficult moments, we kindly ask rescuers and members of the public to consider taking clear, respectful photos of the mum before moving her (if safe to do so).

These photos can be incredibly important. They help us:
• Confirm species identification
• Estimate age and stage of development
• Provide valuable records for rescue and rehabilitation

We understand this can be confronting, and the welfare of the joey always comes first. But where possible, these images can make a real difference in giving that little life the best chance.

Trialling of Tunnel Nets in Cannonvale and Shute Harbour? WE THINK NOT!

These proposed nets are enormous 1.6km commercial fishing nets designed to be set across our inshore flats, posing a huge risk to our protected species; including dugongs, and turtles.

The data doesn't lie - previous trials featured 97% bycatch - 97% of captured fish wasted.

These nets don't discriminate, it will damage our marine ecosystem, and the life in it.

We can't let this happen, and we need your help to stop it from going ahead.

Barbed wire fences don’t just keep livestock in — they trap wildlife out… sometimes forever.

Every year, gliders, birds, flying foxes, nocturnal bird species and even macropods suffer horrific injuries after becoming tangled in barbed wire. Many don’t survive.

Simple changes can save lives:
✔ Swap barbed wire for plain wire
✔ Add visibility markers for flying wildlife
✔ Raise bottom wires to allow safe passage

Let’s protect our native wildlife — one fence at a time 🐾💚

Fauna Rescue Whitsundays is serving up a relaxed afternoon at Club Croc Airlie Beach where the brief is simple: turn up, paint something vaguely recognisable, enjoy a drink, and help save native wildlife while you’re at it 🐾
No art skills required — just confidence!

You’ll get step-by-step guidance, so even if your “masterpiece” looks more like an abstract potato than a koala, you’re still WINNING 🥔✨
All proceeds go straight back into rescuing, caring for, and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife across the Whitsundays. Real animals. Real impact. 🦘🌿

🦅🕊Wildlife Volunteers Needed - Bird Carers 🦆🐦

We are seeking volunteers to help care for birds in need. Right now, we are stretched and need extra hands as soon as possible to ensure these animals recieve the care they deserve.

✨️ What's needed
- Rescues/collection of birds from vets or members of public
- General support with daily care
- Mediating with bird coordinator to maintain health and wellbeing of animals in care

No prior experience is required - guidance and training will be provided.
