This National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on the role we all play in creating meaningful change as individuals, teams, organisations and communities.

Reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility, and it starts with the choices we make each day, not just this week, but every day of the year.

This morning’s National Reconciliation Week breakfast, hosted by Reconciliation WA and Reconciliation Australia, was an important opportunity to reflect on what it truly means to be “all in”, through truth-telling, listening and meaningful action.

The keynote address by Narelda Jacobs was powerful and moving, sharing the realities of the experiences of First Peoples and the reminder that racism still exists within our communities.

Real change begins when we listen, learn and allow ourselves to be transformed by the stories shared.

We were reminded that Reconciliation is a relationship, it’s showing up, its meaningful action. It’s not a week, it’s every day.

National Sorry Day reminds us that the impacts of forced removal, disconnection from culture and systemic injustice are not confined to history.

As a community services organisation, we see the importance of healing, connection, cultural safety and self-determination every day.

Today we honour Stolen Generations survivors and reaffirm our commitment to walking alongside First Nations peoples in truth, respect and reconciliation.

What an incredible evening with Maggie Dent 💛

One of the most special moments of the evening was launching our Good Enough Parenting Cards, with Maggie sharing this beautiful reflection:

“When I opened them and read them, they made my heart sing like you wouldn’t believe, because so many of the things in there are things I say all the time to parents to reassure them there’s no perfect, we all muck up, we are all trying to do the best we can”

To celebrate the launch, we’re offering free shipping and 25% off with the code MAGGIE25 for a limited time at www.thejourneyproject.org.au

Coming together at events like these highlights the power of education, support, and community conversations in addressing family and domestic violence.

Yesterday, the Communicare Breathing Space Hedland team was honoured to stand alongside the community at the Hedland Says No to Violence March and Candlelight Vigil, helping raise awareness, encourage connection, and support a united stand against family and domestic violence.

Through interactive activities, wellbeing resources, and open conversations, the team created a welcoming space for children, families, and community members to connect, reflect, and show support for one another.

We thank our team for their ongoing commitment and dedication to supporting program participants, to create safer futures for women and children.

On National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, we pause to acknowledge and honour all victims and survivors of domestic and family violence.

Today is a day of grief, reflection, and shared responsibility. We see the profound impact family and domestic violence has on individuals, families, and communities every day.

As a community services organisation, we work in partnership with others across Western Australia to ensure people can access the right support at the right time, and to strengthen the networks that surround and support those impacted.

Today, we remember the lives lost. We also acknowledge those who continue to be affected, and we remain committed to standing with our community through this work every day.
