A few of us at Canberra Branch enjoyed the exhibition and tour of Arthur Boyd’s Tapestries yesterday depicting the life of St Francis of Assisi. This amazing exhibition is at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra until 18 October 2026, with free tours at 10.30am and 1pm. It’s all free and learning about how these amazing works of art were made was amazing. We highly recommend!

🍰 Celebrate International Cake Day – Monday 20 July 2026! 🍰

International Cake Day is just around the corner, and what better excuse to get baking! Whip up a favourite cake over the weekend or on Monday, and share a photo with us — we’d love to see your creations.

While you’re in the kitchen, take a moment to explore The Land Cookery Competition, with judging to be held in May 2027 at the CWA of NSW 2027 State Conference in Canberra. There are wonderful sections for all skill levels, from rich fruit cakes and butter cakes to slices, jams and junior categories.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Afternoon Tea for Rare Cancer Research on 6 June and visited our stall at the Royal Canberra Poultry Show on 7 June. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised $2,300 — all of which will go directly to the research team working on Adrenocortical Carcinoma.
Your support truly makes a difference.

🐔 A cracking good day at the Canberra Poultry Show 😆

We had a wonderfully successful stall today at EPIC — heaps of baked goods and jams and the odd craft item or two sold; plenty of friendly faces met; and a whole lot of fun was had along the way.
All morning we were serenaded by a chorus of clucks and cockadoodledoos, which only added to the charm. Funds we raised will be added to those from our high tea held yesterday in aid of rare cancer research. Many thanks to all, especially Canberra Poultry Show and Melissa Bonnitcha for the opportunity.

Our CWA Canberra Branch had a rewarding time supporting Mothers Day over the past week. We set up a cheerful stall at RSL Mona Tait Gardens Aged Care Home, offering our delicious baked goods and handcrafted items to share with residents and staff.
We also put together some lovely gift pack for women at Doris Refuge, a small gesture to remind them they're valued and remembered. Sharing care within our community is what we're all about.

What a fantastic day at the Blundells Cottage Heritage Market! The sunshine was out, the lake was sparkling, and Canberra’s heritage charm was on full display.

Our stall was buzzing from start to finish — and we’re delighted knowing so many people will be enjoying the jams, preserves, baked goods and handcrafted items they took home. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of our hearts.

We also loved the colour and spectacle of the event. A special shout‑out to the wonderful folks from Historic Dance Delights, who visited us in their beautiful historic costumes, and to the gents from National Military Reenactments, whose musket‑firing demonstrations kept things exciting.

A joyful day all round for the CWA Canberra Branch.
