Gordon Community Centre The Gordon Community Centre is managed by Anglicare and run in partnership with Lanyon Valley Anglican Church.

The Centre provides free and low cost services and programs to support children, young people, individuals and families in the local community.

Bring Your Bills Event @ Gordon Community Centre

Many people in our community are experiencing increasing cost of living pressures. Gordon Community Centre is pleased to welcome Care Inc and a range of other support services for our Bring Your Bills event.

Representatives will be available to provide information, advice and referrals on topics such as energy costs, housing and government supports. Participating services include:

• Care Inc
• Origin Energy
• ActewAGL Energy Hardship Team
• Housing ACT
• Services Australia

This is a drop-in event, so there is no need to book to visit the information stalls.

🍽️ Free Community Lunch

The event coincides with our monthly Community Lunch, where we offer a free two-course meal and the opportunity to connect with others in a welcoming environment.

Lunch will be served from 12:30pm.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Share the Dignity 💜

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Share the Dignity for the generous donation of period and incontinence products collected through their August Drive.

These essential items will help us support people in our community who are doing it tough. Access to period and continence products is something many of us take for granted, yet for some individuals and families it can be a significant financial burden.

Thanks to this donation, we can offer practical assistance while also helping to preserve dignity, wellbeing and compassion for those facing difficult circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who donated through the drive and to Share the Dignity for making a real difference in the lives of people in our local community. 💜

The Gordon Community Centre is delighted to continue its collaboration with Homemade Cards for Seniors Australia and warmly invites community members to our next Canberra gathering.

If you enjoy making cards and would love to connect with others who share your passion, this is a wonderful opportunity to get involved. Together, we create heartfelt handmade cards for seniors in hospitals, aged care facilities, and dementia services, helping bring joy and connection to those who may be feeling isolated.

Whether you're an experienced card maker or just getting started, everyone is welcome!

🌮🧠 A Big Thank You❤️

A huge thank you to the Lions Club of Canberra Lake Tuggeranong for organising a fantastic Burritos 'n Brainwaves Trivia Night last Saturday!

It was a wonderful evening filled with plenty of laughs, friendly competition, delicious Mexican food, and great company. Most importantly, it brought our community together in support of a great cause.

We are delighted that the proceeds from the evening will be shared between the Lanyon Pantry at Gordon Community Centre and the Food Hub at MURA Youth, helping both services continue to support local people and families in need.

A special thank you to the Lake Tuggeranong Lions Club for their generosity and hard work in organising the event, and to everyone who attended and contributed to its success.

Your support helps strengthen our community and ensures that local people can access help when they need it most.

Emergency relief is more than groceries.

It is a warm welcome, a friendly conversation, a connection to support services, and an opportunity to become part of the community.

The incredible support of local volunteers, organisations and community members helps create a place where people feel supported, valued and connected.

If you would like to help, there are two simple ways to make a difference:

🛒 Donate groceries to help keep our Pantry shelves stocked. Our current priority items are:
• Rice
• Coffee
• Canned tuna
• Shampoo
• Breakfast cereal
📅 Pantry Donation Drop-Offs Welcome - Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 10am-3pm or to the yellow bin outside Little Luxton Cafe during operating hours

💙 Become a financial supporter. Financial donations help us respond flexibly to emerging needs and continue providing practical support, community connections and wellbeing opportunities for local people doing it tough.
