GreaterGood - The Capital Region Community Foundation

GreaterGood - The Capital Region Community Foundation We aim to link good people with good causes We all have a cause that is close to our hearts and that we would like to be able to support.

GreaterGood (The Capital Region Community Foundation) is Canberra and the Region's public charitable foundation, established by the Public Trustee and Guardian for the ACT. In most cases we are able to provide a one off donation when asked, but imagine if your one off donation could grow and become a sustainable source of income for your chosen charitable cause? This is where GreaterGood comes in.

We manage all the financial aspects such as accounting, investments and auditing to allow your charity to focus on making a difference

🌱 Celebrating Growth and Connection! 🌱
We were lucky to celebrate the incredible graduates of the Yeddung Mura Good Pathways Employment Program, a program that gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients a “soft landing” after leaving the Alexander Maconochie Centre, The program provides education and employment pathways in the landscaping industry.

We’re proud that the Bob Henry Memorial Fund, facilitated by GreaterGood, played a vital role in making this possible. The GreaterGood Board chose Yeddung Mura as the recipient of the 2025 annual distribution. Yeddung Mura used the $25,000 to purchase materials for the fencing and creation of planting boxes.

This is what impact looks like: partnerships, purpose, and people working together to create change. Congratulations to the graduates, the real VIPs! 🌟

🎓 GreaterGood Scholarship Impact: Supporting ACU Nursing Students🎓

At GreaterGood, we are honoured to facilitate scholarships that provide not only financial assistance but also hope, courage, and opportunity. The Francis Carroll Scholarship at the Australian Catholic University (ACU) in Canberra is one such example.

One of the 2025 recipients, a first‑year Bachelor of Nursing student, shared her journey with us. As a mother of two young children with additional needs, the decision to begin nursing studies was not easy. Prior to their diagnoses, she personally covered the costs of therapies, placing significant financial strain on her family. With her husband working full‑time and herself employed casually as a support worker, balancing finances alongside study and family responsibilities was demanding.

The Francis Carroll Scholarship, facilitated by GreaterGood, provided vital relief. It allowed her to focus on her studies and gave her the confidence to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She aspires to specialise in mental health nursing, supporting older adults living with dementia or children with disabilities, and hopes to one day contribute to outreach programs abroad.

She reflected that receiving the scholarship transformed her mindset from simply hoping to “get through” her studies to striving to achieve her best. This is the true impact of philanthropy: enabling individuals to reach their potential and, in turn, give back to the community.

GreaterGood is proud to play a role in connecting generosity with opportunity, ensuring that scholarships like the Francis Carroll Scholarship continue to change lives.

✨ Collaboration in Action ✨
Over three days, the Australian Guardianship and Administration Council (AGAC) event hosted by NSW Trustee and Guardian brought together participants from across jurisdictions to share insights, strengthen connections, and focus on guardianship and administration priorities.

We’re proud that the Public Trustee and Guardian for the ACT (trustee for GreaterGood) attended, enhancing skills in the trustee space and opening doors for valuable cross-promotion.

In recognition of The Prance Family Trust’s ongoing contributions to Guide Dogs Australia NSW/ACT, we are honoured for this special pup to be named in memory of Jon Prance.

Jon’s journey is just beginning, but one day he could change someone’s life forever by becoming their loyal Guide Dog. 💛
