How’s that for a team shot! 👏🇦🇺

We’re still on a high from last week’s Soldier On x Invictus Australia partnership launch, announced onboard HMAS Canberra in Sydney.

It was a privilege to bring our teams and leaders from across Defence, government, the veteran sector and corporate community together to mark this important partnership.

By combining our strengths, we’re creating stronger connections, broader opportunities and clearer pathways for veterans and their families.

And we’re only just getting started.

Stronger outcomes for veterans and families depend on organisations working together, connecting different forms of support and making it easier for people to find the opportunities that are right for them.

That was the focus of a new partnership announced on Friday between Soldier On and Invictus Australia.

Formally marked onboard HMAS Canberra in Sydney, the partnership brings together two organisations with complementary strengths, enabling them to share reach, programs, events and resources to better support the Defence community.

The announcement was hosted by Ally Langdon and brought together leaders from across Defence, government, the veteran sector and corporate community, including General the Honourable David Hurley AC CVO DSC (Retd), Founding Patron of Soldier On, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK AC (Mil) CVO MC (Retd), Patron of Invictus Australia and Sarah Watson, Soldier On Ambassador and Invictus Games alumna.

Soldier On CEO Paul Singer CVO Singer and Invictus Australia CEO Michael Hartung formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the day.

By combining our strengths, Soldier On and Invictus Australia are creating clearer pathways and broader support for veterans and their families. Genuine collaboration across our sector ensures those who served have every opportunity to thrive beyond service.

Adventure awaits on the Newcastle coast 🎣🌊

Over the past month, veterans, serving members and their families have been getting up early for a series of beach fishing adventures through Soldier On’s Reel and Wave Wellness Program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Each session begins with a 4WD along the sand to find the best fishing spots, followed by guidance from experienced local instructors on reading the beach, collecting bait, rigging rods, identifying target species and even scaling and cleaning the catch to take home for dinner.

And there’s plenty more fun to be had! From school holiday surfing lessons for kids, to fishing at The Entrance and Stockton, and adult surfing sessions at Umina and One Mile Beach, there are plenty of opportunities to get outdoors, try something new and connect with others across the Defence community.

Brigadier Ian Errington: a life of service, challenge and curiosity 💪

For Ian, leaving the Australian Army after 38 years was not an end point - it was the beginning of a new chapter shaped by curiosity, challenge and a continued commitment to serving others.

From senior leadership and operational deployments across the globe, to trekking the Kokoda Track, walking the Camino and kayaking 2,356 kilometres of the Murray River to support veterans’ organisations, Ian has continued to seek out new challenges while giving back to the community that has shaped his life.

Today, as a Soldier On Ambassador, Ian brings that wealth of experience, perspective and curiosity to supporting veterans and their families. His story is a reminder that life beyond service can hold new challenges, new purpose and new opportunities to make a difference.

Service Stream: Championing Veteran Connection 🙌

Through our valued corporate partnerships, we’re able to create meaningful opportunities for veterans and their families to connect.

Service Stream understands that supporting veterans goes beyond the workplace - it’s about investing in the connections, community and sense of belonging that help veterans and families thrive beyond service.

From a special dinner in South Australia with Brigadier Mick Burgess, to a community lunch in the Northern Territory featuring LTCOL Peter Zimmerman, these events created space for meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and the strong sense of camaraderie that sits at the heart of our Defence community.

We’re incredibly grateful to Service Stream for helping us create these moments of connection across the country, and for their ongoing commitment to supporting veterans and their families beyond service.
