Inclusive Practice and a Fresh Approach to Outdoor Play

YMCA Holder Early Learning Centre takes time to recognise and celebrate the many individual ways of seeing, knowing and living in our community and the wider world. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, and believe in bridging the gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families showing a commitment to reconciliation.

We recognise each family as unique; bringing a richness of culture, lifestyle, values and beliefs to our centre. We commit to involving families and the community, in the curriculum through participation, feedback and events.

We believe in encouraging a healthy mind, body and spirit for all YMCA Holder Early Learning stakeholders. Nutrition and physical activity is promoted throughout our policies, procedures and practice.

We provide opportunities for children, educators, families and the community to look at new ways of thinking and acting sustainable, fostering respect and care for our environment. Educators encourage appreciation for plants, animals and the land by role modelling and advocating environmentally friendly practices at all times. We believe “Play” is integral to children’s learning. We believe in children’s strengths and ability to engage and plan their curriculum collaboratively with their peers, families and educators. We value children as capable and competent learners who are able to choose, explore and investigate in their unique way. We commit to providing children with a homelike environment that’s well-resourced with natural, reusable and recyclable items.
