🌿 Happy Educators’ Day to our wonderful Baringa team! 🌿

Today is a good opportunity to stop for a moment and say thank you to the people who show up each day and make such a difference in the lives of our children and families.

We see you 🌈
We see the early starts, the busy days, the constant moving, thinking, planning and problem-solving. We see the little moments, the child who needed an extra cuddle, the gentle reassurance at drop-off, the patience when things feel challenging and the encouragement to have another go, the silly song that made someone smile, the conversation that helped a child feel heard, and the countless small decisions you make throughout the day to keep children safe, supported, and learning with a strong sense of belonging.

A lot of what you do happens quietly, and sometimes you probably don't realise just how much it is noticed, valued, and appreciated. Thank you for being the people who make Baringa what it is. Thank you for caring so deeply and thank you for continuing to show up. That is the difference you make!

☀️ Wow! Super grateful for our wonderful parents for the Baringa Spring Working Bee - amazing turn out on a beautiful Saturday morning!

🪏 We spruced up outdoor play spaces with new mulch for the playgrounds, filling up multiple sandpits and preparing the special area for our upcoming mud kitchen upgrades.

💜 Topped off with a yarn over lunch in the sunshine to marvel everyone's brilliant work. This is community! We can't wait for our children to enjoy! 🫶🏼

✨📚 What a wonderful way to finish Early Learning Matters Week! 💚🌟

Today, our children enjoyed a very special visit from illustrator Amie Sabadin, who shared The Picture-Perfect Present, written by Bethany Loveridge 📖

The story sparked so much excitement, imagination and creativity!

✨ Inspired by the beautiful illustrations, the children worked together to create their own gallery wall, just like the one they discovered throughout the book🎨🖼️

Watching their ideas come to life through art was a beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling in early childhood.

Thank you to Children's Education and Care Assurance Executive Branch Manager, Sean Moysey for visiting Baringa today!

We were very proud to show him around the centre, introduce our educators and he got many questions from our curious children.

Sean had a yarn with our Management and Senior Leaders about child safety, best practice in supervision and supporting staff professional development. We appreciate the opportunity!

A wonderful evening meeting with early childhood educators at the United Workers Union National Members Convention.

Our 15% pay rise is helping more educators stay in the jobs they love.

Educators told me just how passionate they are about caring for and educating our nation’s children, and how the payrise is helping them do just that.

Educators shared their ideas for building a strong pathway to universal early education.

The Albanese Labor Government will continue to work with our educators, listen to their experience, and build the high-quality early education system that Australian children and families deserve.

📚Today our children participated in National Simultaneous Storytime!

🌟 Our Educational Leader, Michelle Green read “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller” by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton. The story captures the excitement of the game while sharing a heartwarming message about courage and determination.

🌈 National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, early learning centres, bookshops and many other places around the country!

If your child turns four on or before 30 April 2027, they can start government preschool the first day of term 1 next year.

Children attending government preschools are welcome to attend part-time at Baringa for the days they're not attending government preschool, including alternate Wednesdays. We also provide additional casual care for school holidays.

Children attending Spence Preschool (Mount Rogers Primary School) are welcome to join Baringa's before and after school care, with our educators providing pick up/drop off for preschool hours.

💚 Powering Kids’ Futures at Parliament House 💚

Our Centre Director, Betty had the incredible privilege of participating in Powering Kids’ Futures, an inspiring event held at Parliament House Canberra and advocated by Parents for Climate and community partners.

It was a powerful opportunity to stand with educators, families, children and young people to advocate for a healthier, more sustainable future — one where children’s voices matter and their wellbeing is placed at the centre of decision‑making.

We are proud to be part of a community that values climate action, intergenerational equity, and empowering children to understand that their voices can shape the world around them. Experiences like this reinforce the important role early learning services play in nurturing informed, confident, and compassionate global citizens.

Thank you to Parents for Climate & Early Childhood Australia for creating such a meaningful and well‑run event and for the opportunity to be involved in this important conversation.

☀️ Recently our Hibiscus preschool children had the incredible opportunity to visit the Child’s Play loose parts pop-up playground at the University of Canberra!

✨ With a huge collection of open-ended materials like crates, tubes, fabric and natural resources, the children were free to create, build, imagine and explore in their own unique ways.

👑 Loose parts play is all about giving children the freedom to lead their own learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving and collaboration without set instructions or outcomes.

⚡️ We saw cubbies being constructed, obstacle courses designed, and imaginative worlds come to life. The joy, teamwork and persistence on display were incredible!

🌼 Experiences like this truly highlight the power of play-based learning, where children are capable, confident and full of ideas when given the time, space and materials to explore

💛 A big thank you to the Preservice teachers at the University of Canberra for creating such a rich and inspiring environment for our children. We can’t wait to continue bringing elements of loose parts play into our own learning spaces!
