๐Ÿ“šToday our children participated in National Simultaneous Storytime!

๐ŸŒŸ Our Educational Leader, Michelle Green read โ€œLuna Roo the Kangaroo Ballerโ€ by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton. The story captures the excitement of the game while sharing a heartwarming message about courage and determination.

๐ŸŒˆ National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, early learning centres, bookshops and many other places around the country!

๐Ÿ˜ Well done everyone!!!

๐Ÿ’š Powering Kidsโ€™ Futures at Parliament House ๐Ÿ’š

Our Centre Director, Betty had the incredible privilege of participating in Powering Kidsโ€™ Futures, an inspiring event held at Parliament House Canberra and advocated by Parents for Climate and community partners.

It was a powerful opportunity to stand with educators, families, children and young people to advocate for a healthier, more sustainable future โ€” one where childrenโ€™s voices matter and their wellbeing is placed at the centre of decisionโ€‘making.

We are proud to be part of a community that values climate action, intergenerational equity, and empowering children to understand that their voices can shape the world around them. Experiences like this reinforce the important role early learning services play in nurturing informed, confident, and compassionate global citizens.

Thank you to Parents for Climate & Early Childhood Australia for creating such a meaningful and wellโ€‘run event and for the opportunity to be involved in this important conversation.

โ˜€๏ธ Recently our Hibiscus preschool children had the incredible opportunity to visit the Childโ€™s Play loose parts pop-up playground at the University of Canberra!

โœจ With a huge collection of open-ended materials like crates, tubes, fabric and natural resources, the children were free to create, build, imagine and explore in their own unique ways.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Loose parts play is all about giving children the freedom to lead their own learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving and collaboration without set instructions or outcomes.

โšก๏ธ We saw cubbies being constructed, obstacle courses designed, and imaginative worlds come to life. The joy, teamwork and persistence on display were incredible!

๐ŸŒผ Experiences like this truly highlight the power of play-based learning, where children are capable, confident and full of ideas when given the time, space and materials to explore

๐Ÿ’› A big thank you to the Preservice teachers at the University of Canberra for creating such a rich and inspiring environment for our children. We canโ€™t wait to continue bringing elements of loose parts play into our own learning spaces!

We were pleased to attend the Children's Education and Care Assurance Sector Meeting on Child Safety Reforms, to meet government officials from the ACT Education Directorate and Australian Government Department of Education.

It was especially great to connect with wonderful leaders from community-based, not-for-profit early learning services.

Our leaders wear many hats as we navigate important national reforms to further our commitment in upholding the importance of early childhood education. As centres with Exceeding Ratings against the National Quality Standards, we are very proud to have chosen this career and grateful for the support of families in our community!

๐ŸŽ“ When one of us celebrates, we all celebrate! And when we have three graduates from the University of Canberra in one evening, we are so over the moon and beyond incredibly proud!

๐Ÿ’œ Massive congratulations to our Centre Director, Betty Lam and Hakea Team Leader, Thushari Dias for graduating with the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years) and our Educator, Kinga Choden for graduating with the Masters of Education Studies.

๐ŸŒบ A special mention to Thushari, who started her tertiary studies supported by Baringaโ€™s Early Learning Connection career pathways program, as part of the ACT Governmentโ€™s Early Childhood Education Workforce Strategy. Thushari was also awarded with the Children's Education and Care Assurance Scholarship.

๐ŸŽ‰ These amazing teachers have done the hard yards, with so much grace and grit, working throughout their studies, juggling the journey of life! After so many years working in the profession the courage to continue learning is inspiring for us all.

โœจ Thank you to the UC Education Faculty for their ongoing partnership and support not only for Baringa, but for the broader early childhood education profession.

๐ŸŒฟ Our Baringa community came together for our annual Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, a truly special afternoon of connection, culture and community.

๐Ÿ‚ We were honoured to welcome Joel Bulger, Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri Custodian, who generously shared culture and knowledge while welcoming us to Country. Through the Smoking Ceremony, community was invited to experience a moment of reflection, cleansing and connection to the land on which we learn and play each day.

๐ŸŒบ We are grateful to Joel for sharing this meaningful cultural experience with us, thanks to our families, older siblings, and educators who are on the journey with us! It was wonderful to see our children so engaged throughout the experience. They listened, asked thoughtful questions and were especially fascinated by the sound of the didgeridoo.

๐Ÿ’œ Special appreciation for our new babies, parents and carers for allowing us to welcome them officially, to Greens Spokesperson for Education, Laura Nuttall MLA, Baringa Board Members and Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group for your support.

๐ŸŒผ Gatherings like this are a beautiful reminder of the strength of community, bringing together children, families, educators and loved ones.

Thank you everyone! Join us on the journey at www.baringa.org.au
