Ian Prager and Amelia Dale are The Australian National University staff and National Tertiary Education Union - NTEU ANU Vice-Presidents. They reject claims that TEQSA's intervention undermines university autonomy.

Staff & students *are* the university, and they'd lost confidence in Julie Bishop & ANU Council.

'The higher education sector' is not boardroom members and chief executives. The sector is staff and students — and we are not 'rattled' at all.

The acting chancellor of the Australian National University confirms four more members of the university council have resigned, following last week's exit of former chancellor Julie Bishop.

Unfortunately, the case of The Australian National University exposes as myth the notion that corporate appointments are needed to ensure universities are well run.

We need staff and student oversight, and National Tertiary Education Union - NTEU will stand up for it.

That will need reform of the ANU Act.

A group of Julie Bishop loyalists have quit the ANU’s governing body following the former chancellor’s departure.
