What's really driving the rise of Pauline Hanson, Nigel Farage, and the global populist wave?

In this must-watch conversation, internationally renowned political strategist Isaac Levido joins the Menzies Research Centre's David Hughes to break down why voters across Australia, the UK, and the US are abandoning traditional parties in droves.

Isaac's point is simple: voters are not irrational. Many feel they are doing everything right, working hard and paying their taxes, but still can’t get ahead. That is the warning sign mainstream politics cannot afford to ignore.

Over the last three years the Menzies Research Centre has been making the case for a fairer tax system through automatic indexation of income tax thresholds. Tonight, the Coalition has adopted this policy.

If elected, the Coalition will automatically index tax brackets to combat bracket creep. We congratulate Angus Taylor MP on this commitment and urge all parties to adopt it.

Bracket creep is the hidden tax increase that occurs when tax thresholds remain fixed as incomes rise with inflation. It erodes real wages and take-home pay, disproportionately affects young and middle-income Australians, reduces incentives to work and discourages aspiration.

Most egregiously, bracket creep has allowed governments to fund new spending through automatic revenue increases without transparency or accountability.

That's why the Menzies Research Centre has been fighting for change. Our report, "Stop the Creep", proposes a costed package to index income tax brackets to inflation.

Automatic indexation is the honest, principled fix. Without reform, Australians will continue to face automatically rising tax burdens each year, and governments will remain shielded from the scrutiny that should accompany every new spending commitment.

The majority of developed nations adopt some form of tax bracket indexation to offset inflation. It's time Australia did too.

In a landmark address to the Menzies Research Centre, Angus Taylor, Leader of the Opposition, unveiled the first installment of the Coalition's policy on immigration.

Record levels of migration in recent years, combined with growing concerns about social cohesion, have made immigration a key issue for many Australians.

The Coalition's proposed reforms, which put Australian values at the heart of immigration policy, aim to restore integrity and faith in our migration system.

Many of us are worried about the changes AI will bring. But that doesn't mean we should ignore the technology where it can help us work better and more efficiently.

Environmental approvals is one area. The process is data intensive and involves manual review of thousands of pages of technical information. We have a massive backlog of major projects waiting for approval, including 26,000 low-cost homes, with approval times doubling to around 4 years.

So let's use AI to help:
- process documents
- identify missing information
- compare similar cases
- and speed up repetitive work.

Then we can still have a human make the final decision at the end of the day.

The Albanese Government wanted international acclaim for Australia’s under-16s social media ban. But only months into its operation, the policy is already proving difficult to enforce. Teens are reportedly bypassing age checks and moving to unregulated platforms not yet captured by the ban.

Are under-16s actually any safer?

Over half a trillion dollars. That's how much the major tech companies are investing annually into AI data centres. Australia needs to act now to capture a greater share of that investment or risk economic activity and talent flowing to other countries.

Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Facebook are set to invest more than half a trillion dollars each year on data centre development.

Australia should be positioning itself to attract a share of this investment.

The social media ban is failing in its current form.

Underage children are still being exposed to online grooming because the inconsistent and vague definition of what constitutes social media means that gaming platforms like Roblox are exempt from the ban.

Under the same twisted logic, YouTube counts as social media - even though it is primarily a broadcast platform rather than a dopamine-driven scroll-based app.

The government needs to focus its efforts on properly implementing the ban before it can credibly claim that its new laws are protecting children.

Today was a big day for our Liberal Party as we chart a new pathway forward to deliver affordable power for Australians as a first priority of our energy policy.

It was a privilege to deliver the 12th annual Howard Lecture tonight and discuss our new direction with my great friend, mentor and former boss — Australia’s greatest ever Prime Minister John Howard.
