Flowers of Peace

Flowers of Peace The Flowers of Peace began as an Australian project to uncover, create, perform, and record music from and about WW1. In 2024, 'Lamentations' for the Holocaust.

It was a demonstration of the cultural cost of war. Our name was the Flowers of War up until 2021. Moving on from WWI, the project will produce more nationally significant musical commemorative concerts and recordings that will be gifted to the nation to use at future commemorative services or for non-commercial purposes. In 2021, we produced the 'Vietnam Requiem' - a concert to create a deeper un

derstanding of the Vietnam War from all perspectives, 50 years on. In 2022, we will create a POW experience featuring the Fall of Singapore and the Thai Burma Railway. In 2023, we will create the 'Peacekeeping Symphony'. And finally, in 2025, the 'WWII Requiem'.

29 April – 3 May 2026

Across the Festival, audiences encounter music deeply rooted in place and tradition, alongside expansive surveys of English and French repertoire. Composer-in-residence Fiona Hill and Indigenous artist-in-residence Aaron Wyatt anchor the season with powerful new works that speak to country, culture and the evolving future of Australian music.
