Dear Dutch community,

We have been contacted by Ton Zuininga who recently has written a book about the development of Dutch culture between 1870 and 1970. In his book, culture is approached in a broad sense: from painting and literature to radio, cabaret, and everyday life. It is not an academic work filled with scholarly jargon, but a compact and accessible narrative that invites recognition and conversation.

The book - which is written in Dutch - is intended for readers who are interested in where they come from, and in how this cultural heritage has continued to resonate beyond the borders of the Netherlands.

Sinterklaas isnt just for the kids!

We have 5 exciting raffle prizes this year, including an extra special Gluten Free raffle prize, many thanks to KOEK & CAKE! (please specify on the day if you would like to purchase tickets for this Gluten Free prize).

We'll be selling raffle tickets during the event and will announce winners once all the kids have received their presents from Sinterklaas.

Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5, cash and card accepted at all stalls.

If you haven’t had a chance to register, don't worry! Everyone is welcome to our Sinterklaas feest on 6 December, from 1pm at the Harmonie German Club!

Expect delicious treats like frikandellen, oliebollen and kruidnoten (kids, bring your hats to catch them!). Plus, a few extra goodies to make the day even more special!

This is a community event open to all, simply bring your family, friends and festive spirit 🧡

Sinterklaas is already preparing for December 6th here in Canberra! The zak is ready and the kruidnootjes are out, And this year he's bringing Frikandellen with authentic Kruiden Ketchup, Oliebollen, and of course sjoelbak for all to try!

How it works:
📋 Register your attendance using the form above. Registration is free!
🎁 Buy a gift (max $30) for each child under 12.
🖊 Wrap the gift and clearly write your child's name on it.
🏠 Drop it off at the address listed in the form by December 4 2025.
📞 Contact us to arrange drop-off time or an alternative date.
🎉 On the big day, watch your child light up as they receive their special gift from Sinterklaas himself!
