DRAGONSKIN 2026

Over the Easter long weekend, over 60 ACT Venturers attended . Hopping on the Branch Venturer Council (BVC) bus bright and early, they soon arrived in the midst of Belanglo State Forest.

As always, ACT teams were extremely well represented both in the leaderboard and out on the dance floor. Venturers slept at bases (image 3), but also occasionally did some productive work too. At Base 305, 1st Cobargo taught the joys of animal husbandry (of a bull calf and a heifer) to some of our less rurally inclined Venturers. , gave out excellent “Island Girl” tattoos. The VOC 3 dance tent provided excellent tunes, notably “Helikopter 117”. Base 403 run by provided delicious cabbage and scallion dumplings to Venturers who hadn’t seen a real piece of food for days. Finally, , aka Party VOC closed out the event with an absolutely mint evening of Pitbull (not Fireball) and other music.

This year’s Dragonskin “Imaginarium” was most certainly a blast for all who attended and the BVC hopes to send even more ACT Venturers to the event next year.

The BVC is delighted to announce the ACT’s new flagship Venturer-specific event: ACT SnowVenture.

What is SnowVenture?
SnowVenture is your chance to experience the adventure of a lifetime: three full days of skiing at Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere.

When is SnowVenture?
SnowVenture will run from 2-5 July 2026 at the Scouts NSW Alpine Activity Centre. Arrivals begin on the evening of the 2nd, with departures on the evening of the 5th.

How much does SnowVenture cost?
We’ve worked hard to keep costs as low as possible, noting that Venturers voted for a resort-based skiing camp. The expected event fee for SnowVenture 2026 is $480, excluding dinner on arrival, on-mountain lunches, equipment rental, and lift passes. We’ve negotiated ski/snowboard rental at $105, and Perisher is currently offering a four-day lift pass with Skitube access (Skitube access is mandatory) for $414. These prices are subject to change based on attendance.

How do I get to SnowVenture?
At this stage, the event requires self-transport. Please arrange transport within your Units. If you can’t find anyone in your Unit to drive, we’ll work to find an option for you. Since it is a long drive, we advise against less experienced drivers attempting the journey.

Can I snowboard at SnowVenture?
Yes! You can snowboard at SnowVenture; however, we strongly recommend that less experienced riders wear wrist guards.

Can Rovers attend SnowVenture?
Absolutely! Please remember Child Safe Scouting - bring a friend from your Unit, as this remains a youth event.

Can Leaders attend SnowVenture?
Please come along, Leaders! We need you to make this event possible. Let us know if you’re able to provide transport, be a line leader, or help in any other way. If you’d like to join the management team (e.g. welfare, first aid), please reply to this email.

What’s next?
Please complete the Google Form to express your interest. We’ll hold an online meeting shortly. In the meantime, get ready for unforgettable skiing and generational memories!
