Throughout the rest of the year, GOG will be hosting a variety of mini workshops. 💚 These are run by our brilliantly talented GOG members who are volunteering their time to share their skills and the joy of crafting! 💜

We've already had two workshops last month on how to read patterns. The upcoming workshops range from mosaic, knitting charts, crochet graphgan, colour, tunisian crochet, and micro crochet, which will suit both beginners and more experienced crafters! 🧶

These workshops will be held at our Ainslie meetup on Saturdays from 1-4pm.

You can view the workshop details and calendar on our website, https://goodomengoodeze.org.au/community-threads-project/, on the same page as our calendar of events. 🤩

Our next workshop is this Saturday, 5th September, and will be on mosaic for beginners! ✨

See you there! 😀

What a fantastic Saturday we all had at the Ginninderry Festival! 🌟✨
We all had a fabulous day connecting with everyone at who came along. A massive thank you to every single person who stopped by our stall to chat, learn more about what we do, and support our charity!

The atmosphere was absolute magic, packed with incredible crowd energy, mouth-watering food, fun rides, talented local musicians and a fireworks display to top off the night. 🎆🎡

We had a total blast watching our wonderful volunteers jump right in to teach keen members of the community how to make pom-poms and dive into a bit of crochet! It was so awesome to see everyone getting creative and having fun learning together. 🧶✨🧶✨

A huge shout-out and heartfelt thank you to our wonderful voluteers - we truly couldn't do this without your time, energy, and radiant smiles!

Thank you to Vicki and her team from Visabel and Ginninderry for hosting such a wonderful community event and giving us the platform to highlight our charity and meet up with so many amazing locals.

Thank you for making it a day to remember. See you all at the next event! ❤️🙌

🎉 Big news! This week we delivered our very first Gogster to the Hospital in the School, custom-created on our Gogster Maker App by a talented student!

We had the absolute pleasure of delivering it alongside Matt from RKDN , who designed and built the awesome app. To say the teachers were over the moon would be a huge understatement -and the hospital Clown Doctor - Dr Holiday - was instantly smitten with one of the other donated Gogsters! 🤡❤️

If the reaction from the school staff today was anything to go by, these little legends are going to be an absolute hit with the kids!

A massive shoutout to:
Matt from RKDN — Honestly, without your vision, coding magic, and hard work on the app, none of this would be possible. You are a star! 🌟

Our incredible Maker App Team — Huge thanks to all our members who put their hands up to join the creation team and bring these digital designs into the physical world.

Greg’s Maker — A special high-five to the amazing member who crafted Greg! He turned out fantastic! 🙌

We can’t wait to see even more student-designed Gogsters come to life with the help of our amazing community. Watch this space! 🚀✨

Happy ! 🎉
Today’s shoutout goes to a very special, furry member of our care team at the Walk-in Centre.

Why We Love This:
Little Hero, Big Impact: Tod the knitted bear stepped up to provide maximum comfort and distraction when it mattered most.

Taking One for the Team: Catching a few stray cactus thorns in your yarn is a small price to pay for helping a friend brave the nurse's station.

Paws-itive Care: Distraction tools like Tod make a world of difference in helping little ones feel safe during minor procedures.
A huge thank you to Tod and his 'human helper' for taking the time to let us know what a difference a palm sized little bear can make! 🌵🧸✨

🧵 Calling all our talented makers! 🧶 We need your creative hands to help support long-term hospital patients who are dealing with anxiety and need comfort during their stay.
We are looking for donations of handmade Sensory Rugs—or individual Crochet Squares to build them! These creations bring immense comfort, grounding, and a calming distraction to patients when they need it most.
What you can make:
Sensory Rugs: Full rugs incorporating gentle, soothing weight, textured yarns, and interactive elements.
Crochet Squares: Make individual textured squares using patterns like the ones below! We will sew these together to build our collective sensory rugs.
Fidget Details: Attach 3D elements like flowers, curly cues, or soft shapes that patients can twirl, roll, or fidget with.
Important Crafting Guidelines:
Textured Yarns & Stitches: Play with different textures—chenille, bouclé, fluffy, or try textured stitches such as waffle etc.
Safety First: Please ensure all attached bits are either crocheted into a rug/square or double-stitched and firmly secured so nothing can be pulled off.
Thank you for always putting your heart into our community projects. We can't wait to see what you create! ❤️

🌸 Flower Squares & Pattern Decoding at Ainslie! 🌸
At our latest Ainslie meetup we started our mini-workshop series, working on crochet and knitting symbol pattern decoding.

What started as a quick demo has blossomed into a series of hands-on sessions at our other meetups. It’s been fun watching everyone level up their skills - our members are having a blast finally cracking the code on reading stitch symbol patterns and learning just how useful these charts are. 🧶✨

Want to get in on the fun? We’re keeping the momentum going this weekend with even more gorgeous flower square patterns. Plus, we'll be stitching all these textured squares together to create a sensory rug! Check out our previous wanted post.

Whether you're a complete beginner looking to decipher your first chart or a seasoned maker wanting to hook up some fresh floral motifs for a good cause, we'd love to see you.

Bring your hooks, your yarn, and your curiosity. Let's craft, chat, and learn together—see you there! 😍

🌟 Member Spotlight: Cecilia 🌟To celebrate Youth Volunteer Week, we’re shining a well-deserved light on one of our absolute powerhouses. Cecilia joined GOG back in 2022 as part of our ANU student workshops where she first learnt to crochet.

Since then, Cecilia has puts her heart into crafting for a cause, creating quirky and cute Gogsters that directly support our community, but she also keeps our digital gears turning. From maintaining our website to creating the very social media posts you scroll through, her talent and dedication keep us connected and running smoothly.

If you’ve been part of the GOG community for the last year or so, you might remember that Cecilia was nominated for Youth Volunteer of the Year last year—and it’s no secret why. She’s the definition of someone who gives her all behind the scenes and at the craft table.

Cecilia, thank you for your creativity, your technical skills, and your unwavering heart for giving back. We are so lucky to have you on our team! 💖

Happy Youth Volunteer Week to all our young GOG Volunteers! We appreciate every single one of you! ✨
