What a fantastic weekend at the annual Teams event in West Wyalong! There were 22 teams taking to the court; four teams being from Canberra, and several players joining other teams. Although the conditions were very windy, competition was strong, organisation excellent and catering superb. The Saturday night dinner was again a highlight with players enjoying the relaxed atmosphere on the clubhouse verandah — a great opportunity to socialise without the pressure of hitting any balls back, although the ball machine and wooden racquet challenge provided great entertainment. There was even an opportunity to have photos with Stewalenka (pictured with Don Masters).
Congratulations to Bev Roberts, Bev Finn, Rozie Davies and Vicki Vesse on their strong performance to be Runners-up to the Dubbo Dynamites in the Ladies event. The Good Old Boys won the Mens B Grade event, only losing once to the Temora Dragons (Runners-up). Great result for Greg Hunt, Rod Stewart, Gary Renfrey, Don Masters (the team’s “spiritual leader,” yet playing for Orange this weekend), John Chapman, and Tony Ross.
