🎾TSACT Round Robin August 26.🏆

Spring arrived early at Melba on Sunday 23 August, with sunny weather, no wind and temperatures in the high teens. A big welcome to Jenny Lovell and Pierre Nijssen, who joined us for the first time.

Congrats to our winners: Mauro Kolobaric in the purple group and Yanping Ji in the green group. Steve Cork and Ross Findlay were runners-up, and Karen Renfrey and Helen Thompson were both just one game off a prize.👏🏽

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun afternoon. Next round robin is planned for Sunday 27 September. Hope to see you there!

The Batemans Bay Round Robin event on 15th-16th Augustt started with fine weather on the Saturday but unfortunately rain prevented any play on Sunday. A good number of ACT Seniors attended, being the major portion of players in some events.
Women’s 65+ Doubles – Leonie Ainsworth and Hilary Brigden (Winners), Tina van Meurs, Rochelle Hogan (R/U)
Men’s 65+ Doubles – Tony Ross and Gary Renfrey (Winners), Don Masters and Mark Graham (R/U)

An impressive Canberra contingent trekked up the coast to the Forster Seniors Tennis Tournament NRT5 this year with plenty
of tennis to be had in the round robin sets format. Ben Tedman, Tash Banfield (pictured below) and Jim Donaldson all won their singles events with Mike Lavis runner-up to his doubles partner, Jim Donaldson.
Other winners were: Jim Donaldson and Mike Lavis (65 dbl),
John Coleman and May Howard (70 mx), Leonie Ainsworth and May Howard (130comb dbls) and pictured below with Michelle Kelly and Leonie Ainsworth and Neale McDonald (NSW) (65mx pool1). A day of rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm, competitiveness or enjoyment of our Canberra players who ventured to Forbes for the annual Teams event last weekend. Congratulations to the Canberra Girls team (captained by Betty Smith) of Helen Worland, Pauline Downes , Bev Roberts and Narelle Sykes who won the Ladies division. Victorious in the Men's C Division were the Old Boys (captained by Don Masters) and included Rod Stewart, Pat Hanrahan and Greg Hunt.

Great turnout for our July Round Robin at Weston Creek on 19 July, with 20 players making the most of the sunny weather and four courts.😎🎾

Congratulations to Julian Barnard, who topped Division 2 with 24 games, and to runner-up Tina Van Meurs. 👏

Colin Lyons won Division 1 with 23 games, with Greg Hunt a close second on 20 games. Greg has also had recent success at the Port Macquarie Seniors tournament, where he won 3 events! Well done, Greg.👏🏆

🎾 Who’s ready for Newcastle? 🎾 Nominations are now open for the Australian Teams Carnival – Newcastle 2027, 3–8 January 2027 — and we’d love to see a strong ACT team on court!

The Teams Carnival is one of the highlights of the Tennis Seniors calendar, bringing together players from across Australia for a week of competitive tennis, friendship and fun.

Tennis Seniors ACT is seeking players for men’s and women’s teams across all age groups from 30+ onwards. Teams compete in 5-year age groups (30, 35, 40 and beyond), providing a fantastic opportunity to play with others in your age group, represent the ACT, and be part of a great week of team tennis and social events.

Whether you’re a returning ACT representative or thinking about playing your first Teams Carnival, we’d love to have you join the team.
