The CHC Allstars are lacing up for Karinya House's Walk for Hope 👟

Our team is proud to take part in this year's walk, raising funds to help provide safety, hope and homes for women experiencing domestic violence and disadvantage while pregnant or parenting. Karinya House supports mums and bubs when they need it most, and this cause is close to our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our 2026 tenant survey. Your feedback helps us understand what we're doing well and where we need to do better.

Here's a snapshot of what you told us:

🏠 90% feel treated fairly and respectfully by our staff

These results are encouraging and we appreciate the trust behind them. But we also heard where there's room to improve, and we're listening. Over the coming year, you'll see your feedback reflected in targeted actions across our services.

We're proud to announce that CHC's Strathnairn Women's Housing Initiative has won the Innovation Award at the 2026 Real Estate Institute of the ACT Awards for Excellence 🏆

This recognition celebrates a program that is delivering something genuinely new in the ACT: a Build to Rent to Buy pathway giving single working women a real opportunity to move from renting to owning their own home.

We also want to congratulate two members of the CHC team who were recognised as finalists on the night. Shirley Chow, Tenancy Officer, was a finalist for the Community/Public Housing Sector Property Manager award, and Kelsey, our Asset Manager, was a finalist for the Operational Leadership award. Being nominated alongside the best in the industry is something to be proud of.

Thank you to the Real Estate Institute of the ACT for a wonderful evening and to the CHC team and partners who made this possible.

At CHC, we're proud to partner with YWCA Canberra at Common Ground, supporting people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness to access safe, stable, long-term housing.

This partnership goes beyond providing a roof. Secure housing gives people the foundation to rebuild, to improve their health and wellbeing, strengthen relationships and pursue education or employment.

Common Ground demonstrates the power of a housing-first approach. With ongoing support and an inclusive community, residents are empowered to set their own goals, build confidence and create a real sense of belonging.

This Homelessness Week, we acknowledge the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and celebrate the impact that safe, affordable housing has on individuals, families and the broader community. Every person deserves a place to call home.
