Catering/Kitchen Cooking positions available
Cottermouth currently has positions available within our hospitality services team for experienced Catering and Cooking staff to join our friendly team, on a casual basis. As Catering Chef, you will work under the direction of the Catering Services Manager and will assist with food preparation, serving of meals, and cleaning of the kitchen and dining room.

Cottermouth, Scouts ACT’s premier group accommodation, camping and adventure facility, is located in a picturesque setting adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River just 7 minutes’ drive from the outskirts of Canberra via the Cotter Road. Set on two sites across 24 hectares (59 acres), Cottermouth offers cabin and camping accommodation, conference and dining experiences, and outdoor adventure to school and community groups, Scout groups, and the general public. Responsibilities:
• Assemble and prepare ingredients.
• Prepare meals, snacks, baked goods, and other items.
• Serve meals in a timely fashion.
• Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain appropriate food safety and personal hygiene standards.
• Provide cleaning duties within the kitchen, food preparation, scullery, pantry, and dining areas including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Comply with all relevant Work Health and Safety regulations, including always wearing fully enclosed non-slip shoes.
• When required, supervise and manage junior staff such as Cooks, Kitchenhands and F&B Attendants.
• Ensure chemical cleaning products are handled and stored safely.
• Keep work tools tidy and in order.
• Report any damage to property and fixings to the Cottermouth Head Chef.
• Other duties as requested.
What you will bring to the role:
• Prior hospitality experience working in a kitchen or cooking, preferably supported by a Certificate II in Cookery or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Enthusiasm and strong self-motivation
• Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration, or you have the ability to acquire
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus by responding in a professional and helpful manner to all our guests and campers
• Ability to support and work within a team environment
• Ability to complete tasks by using time management skills
