REMINDER: AusAlert is being tested in the ACT area at 10:30am TOMORROW. The alert will be sent to some devices in the ACT and may cause a loud noise and vibrate even when phones are on silent or Do Not Disturb.

These alerts may expose the location or existence of safe phones or devices that form part of a safety plan for victim-survivors of family violence.

If you have a device you need to keep yourself safe, and receiving the alert may put your safety at risk, you can:
- Turn off your mobile device or put it on airplane mode at least one hour before the test, and
- Keep your device off for 24 hours, as the alert could still be received if the phone is switched back on within that timeframe

More information is available on the AusAlert website: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/community-resources/staying-safe-ausalert

If you need support around safety planning, please contact the DVCS 24/7 Crisis Intervention phone line on 02 62 800 900.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, for which this year's theme is 'All In' - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

'All In' makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

This reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

Today, the ACT Government announced ongoing funding for our crisis intervention services, meaning our 24/7 crisis line will continue to operate with certainty for the next three years.

Addressing family violence in our community requires sustained investment. For many years, we have been calling for longer-term funding to allow services like us to plan for the future and provide certainty to the community.

This multi-year arrangement means we will be able to maintain the operation of our crisis line 24/7, 365 days a year.

It means people experiencing domestic and family violence in the ACT can have confidence someone will be there to respond to their call.

We are grateful to the ACT Government for the steps they have taken today.

This ACT Budget also includes a funding boost that will allow us to hire two additional staff members, and a commitment to our men’s behaviour change program that guarantees its operation until at least mid-2028.

We look forward to working with the government to make sure we can maximise the impact of these two new staffing positions for victim-survivors.

Our service has played a central role in supporting our community members experiencing domestic and family violence for nearly 40 years.

We hope that today’s announcement signals a recognition of our expertise and a platform for ongoing partnership with the ACT Government as significant reforms are introduced to address family and domestic violence and ensure all Canberrans can access the support they need.
