Hi everyone --- on Tuesday 24th March our activity will be a presentation by long-term Camperdown resident, Bob Lambell. This FoML activity is a NOT to be missed opportunity if you have an interest in our First Nations people and their local history.

Bob describes himself as an ‘active learner’ on this topic. He is someone who ‘gleans and grasps information’ and cares about First Nations people. Very importantly, Bob is also someone who shares his wealth of knowledge. Lucky us!

The amazing artwork used in the poster was provided by Camperdown Historical Society. It is part of a sketch by William Adeney c1884 of a corroboree at ‘Renny Hill’, Camperdown.

Please note, there is a limit of 30 participants at the VEC – RSVP is ESSENTIAL. Some people did this after our Calendar of activities was sent out so spaces are already filling. Live streaming is also available.

Please note Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf reserves and the Mt Leura Road will be closed tomorrow due to Catastrophic Fire Danger rating. Stay stay everyone!

Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating tomorrow - Friday January 9

Under a catastrophic rating, conditions are the most dangerous for bushfires. If a fire starts, it will be fast-moving, unpredictable, and extremely difficult to control.

The following Council locations will be closed tomorrow:
• Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre
• Timboon and Derrinallum Transfer Stations
• Naroghid Transfer Station – closed to the public, commercial customers only
• Family daycare and childcare services
• Council swimming pools: Camperdown, Cobden, Lismore, Skipton, Terang, Timboon
• Libraries: Camperdown, Cobden, Derrinallum, Terang and Timboon, and Skipton Library book exchange
• Camperdown Stadium and Timboon Stadium, including gym access
• Community halls
• Walking Trails, including Mount Leura and Mount Sugarloaf Reserve, Mount Noorat, and Poorpa Yanyeen Meerreeng trail (Camperdown to Port Campbell)
• Mount Leura Road
• Local Laws officers will be responding to emergencies only.

Kerbside waste collection services in Terang, Noorat and Glenormiston will operate as normal, although collection will commence earlier.

Most importantly, stay safe and keep cool – and remember, in an emergency, leaving early is always the safest option.

Although damp and cool on Sunday it was a solid turnout of interested people for the annual 'Come and Explore' afternoon at the Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Reserves. The activity venue at the base of Mt Leura looked amazing with all the Petyan Yarn installations by Nicky, a very interesting and informative cultural walk through the Reserves with Brett Clarke and all other activities ran as planned. The Management Committee thanks everyone who attended and joined the activities as well as those who volunteered to help run the afternoon.
If you have not yet had a chance to visit the Reserves and look at the Petyan Yarn display at the base of Mt Leura please be sure to get along and enjoy the colourful collection that local artist Nicky Schonkala has created.
