We had our May meeting on the 31st at Camden Men’s Shed where we had a great day, moderate attendees but a good showing for a new venue.
We participated in the men’s shed machinery induction, then we handed out some certificates replacing ones with errors and performed maintenance on our trailer.
Show”n”tell was light but informative with Paul Ibbotson showing of his newly reformed salt and pepper mills of acrylic filled banksia pods and a small acrylic and timber bowl. Merve Larson showed us the tool he made for ceramic type pepper mills and brother Geoff Larson bought in a small bowl he turned while Lee Brown explained about his adventures with a box he turned with an inlayed lid and David Wooderson bought in one of his collector pieces (not his work), a solid mallee root burl nick named the bowling ball. He’s putting it up for sale, I suggested maybe trying a gallery or an auction.
Lunch was a welcome event with head chef Ian Cox on the tools. Making use of the space and the out side view the men’s shed has to offer many people sat with coffee and enjoyed each other’s company…… funny thing was for a group of Woodturners nobody actually did any turning at all, but I must say I think everybody had a good time.
