The Coptic Orthodox Church annually commemorates two events related to the Holy Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

The first of two Feasts of the Cross is celebrated between the 17th–19th of Tout (September 27th–29th). The feast is the appearance of the Sign of the Honorable Cross to Emperor Constantine before the Battle of Milvian Bridge.

Additionally, the September Feast of the Cross commemorates the joint veneration of the Honorable Cross between the Patriarchs of Alexandria, Constantinople, Antioch, and Jerusalem that occurred in 335 AD.

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” 1 Corinthians 1:18

A blessed feast of the cross everyone 😊

✝️ The Feast of Nayrouz

Nayrouz marks the beginning of the Coptic New Year and honours the courageous martyrs who gave their lives rather than deny their faith in Christ.

The Coptic calendar begins in 284 AD, known as the Year of the Martyrs, during a period of intense persecution of Christians under the Roman Empire.

On Nayrouz, we remember their unwavering faith, courage and sacrifice, and are reminded to remain steadfast in our own walk with Christ.

The traditional red dates symbolise the martyrs’ blood, while their white flesh represents the purity of their hearts and the seed within reminds us of the strength and endurance of their faith.

“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10 ❤️✝️

Happy Coptic New Year!
