🌧️ **EARLY CLOSURE TODAY – 1PM**

With more wild weather on the way, we've decided to close all four Mingary Care Op Shops at 1pm today (Thursday 22 October) to make sure our wonderful volunteers can get home safely.

That includes Bli Bli, Caloundra, Maroochydore and Warana.

Sorry if you were planning to pop in for a browse or drop off donations.

Whatever happened to getting the good china out? ☕

Remember the cups and saucers that only came out when visitors arrived? The fancy teaspoons nobody was allowed to use? The milk jug, the sugar bowl, the whole production!

Well, Bli Bli has us thinking it might be time to bring back a proper afternoon tea.

We're talking real cups, a decent pot of tea, something delicious on a plate and absolutely no rushing off anywhere.

And while we're at it, why not pop on a pretty frock and make an occasion of it? We've got a few beauties in store, along with some rather lovely handbags.

So... what happened to all that rain we were supposed to get? ☔😂

We were ready for a proper downpour today, so we rounded up a whole heap of rainy-day activities at Maroochydore.

The rain had other ideas.

Still, this is the Sunshine Coast. We reckon we'll get another chance to use them before too long!

If you're the type to go singing in the rain, we've got a fabulous umbrella and a fancy-pants rainbow jacket to help you do it in style. 🌈

Prefer to stay dry? We've got a few ideas...

🎲 Play a board game (and get ridiculously competitive).

🧩 Tackle a jigsaw puzzle. We've got everything from 100 to 1,000 pieces!

📀 Watch a movie or binge a favourite series. Yes, we're talking good old-fashioned DVDs. We've even got VHS tapes!

📚 Get stuck into a good book (or expand your mind and read a weird one)

🧶 Learn a new hobby! Knitting, sewing, cross-stitch... take your pick.

🎨 Get creative with painting, clay or a bit of DIY.

🍰 Get cooking! Try a new recipe or have a crack at some fancy cake decorating.

💃 Learn to dance! Ballroom in the lounge room, anyone?

🎮 Dust off the old gaming console for a bit of retro gaming.

And if the rain continues to hold off? Well, there's always time for a cruise around the op shop. 😁

Can someone please explain how we're nearly in November? 😂

Halloween next week, Melbourne Cup the week after, and those "we really should catch up before Christmas" conversations have already started.

Anyone else feel like the calendar is getting away from them?

There's only one thing for it… a cruise around an op shop!

Our Caloundra crew have sent through another batch of photos, so here's a little preview of what's in store.

With a bit of rain forecast for Saturday morning, we reckon the weeds can wait another week.

Maroochydore has declared war on beige!

The brief was colour and they have delivered in rainbows. 🌈

There’s bright stuff everywhere at the moment — clothes, homewares, bags, toys, shoes, cushions, mugs… even the watering can got involved.

Bold, cheerful, slightly chaotic. Exactly as it should be.

CALOUNDRA. We see the Halloween stock is being thoroughly tested before it hits the floor. 😂🎃

Very thorough. Very professional. No concerns here.

Once you make it past our terrifyingly committed volunteers, there’s quite a haul to explore — one minute you’re shopping Halloween costumes, the next you’re eyeing off a trumpet, a cabinet full of Royal Doulton, a fabulous fringed bag and enough Doctor Who collectibles to keep a fan very busy.

Honestly, Caloundra has range.

Come for a browse. Just be prepared for absolutely anything. 😄

Bli Bli customers…we’re a wee bit jealous. 😄

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes reveal: the Bli Bli crew send through photos of their latest finds and displays so we can spread the word.

The problem?

The stuff they send us is so good that half the time we want to shut the computer, jump in the car and head straight up there ourselves.

That dress? Stunning.

That glassware? Get in my kitchen.

And don’t even get us started on the rest of it.

Okay people… we were going to get really clever and do a whole themed post around Bathurst this week.

Then we wandered into the book aisle.
And, truth be told, we’re a bit smitten with all the fabulous series currently gracing the shelves at Maroochydore.

So. Cars are out. Books are in. 📚😂

There are some absolute crackers — perfect if you love finding a series and settling in for the long haul (maybe while your partner watches Bathurst? 😉)
