“You will always be fond of me. I represent to you all the sins you never had the courage to commit.”
― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
A classic gothic horror story by Oscar Wilde. Secretly, many of us probably wish this fantasy could be true in our lives.

Ah yes, the Irish, with their smiling eyes and joyful outlook on life. Well, this week we do have such a persun who is co-sponsoring this weeks game at Rokingham GC. Many huge thanks to Ronan McCauley and to a lesser extent Paul Bachman and Keith Reid for their contributions. Lets hope their prizes are worth winning otherwise these words will be as empty as the Grand Canyon without wind.

The game will be stableford off the whites and there will be at least 10 novelties on offer. You'll see on the day!

Everybody should have paid their $30 by now. Its very good value for any game of golf these days you must admit. Book a cart early in case you need one...

The penultimate round of club championships was.played today. It was a very chilly day, but it didn't rain which kind of evened itself out and made it a pleasant enough day out. But let's bring on the warmer weather please!! (Over this winter 🥶).

A hugerer thanks to Donald Wilson for his fabulous prizes on offer today. We we all eagerly hoping to win something..but not all were lucky to do so.

Congratulations to JC on scoring an eagle on the 12th..more on this hole shortly.

In first place with a lovely net 69 was...Silvio Conte. He must've been using a thunderstick as he was well ahead of the field. Runner up on a fine net 70 was Lyall Jones, and in third spot was Scott Ryan on a nice net 71.

Best gross went to Ronan McCauley with an 86 off the stick, finally displacing Glenn Carroll who looked a bit gloomy having lost his mantle as the lowest usual gross winner. Always next time Glenn 😀😀.

Next week it's an away game at Rockingham GC with Ronan and Paul Bachman sponsoring. Tee off is 9.00am so a small sleep in is allowed.

The birdies nest finally went off today and, incredibly, it was the 12th hole that was drawn out. It ended up being shared by 7 players so there is a kind of Golf karma in a way.

G'day Pirates. Unfortunately I'm still under the weather and looking doubtful for Sunday (again).

So it's just a quick reminder that it's a stroke game..putts to be recorded.

Our sponsor for the game is the ebullient Donald Wilson Sotheby's prizes will be brilliant.

Good luck to all. Now it's back to the bed for m🤥

Arr..it was a 4BBB event today. We had a large field turning up and The temperature was a glorious 24 degrees.
Today we paid another photographer to take pics of the day and boy he didn't disappoint! I must thank him for his zealousness! Thanks Keith Reid .

Today's sponsors was the Fremantle Pirates Golf Club Inc I think. It's such a great club 😀.

In first place with a brilliant 47 points was Donald Wilson and Mike Clifford. Runners up on 46 points were Simon Chadwick and Ralph Roth . Best individual on 38 point went to Keith Reid who has found good form..finally!

Next week it's another club championship round and I believe it's the last one for the year.

The Buddha once said, "the problem is, you think you have time." The weekend beckons. So does time.

A fairly dour but deep introduction to our weekend game I admit. But I'm in a Zen mood...thought it was appropriate 😁. Moods, you see.

Ok it's a 4BBB game. It means a team game and the best score counts for each hole. Best total wins, and there's probably a best individual score as well. (There usually is).

Day is sponsored by Fremantle Pirates Golf Club Inc our ever generous club.

Consistency points are getting very valuable..just sayin...😎

Its Tuesday. That usually means its another confusing episode of golfing news for a club that is small enough (but large enough) to all fit on an elephant's back. (Anyone ever ridden an elephant?) Its a club with some quite interesting individuals - mainly because we are old geezers with lots of life experience, both good and bad. PS there are some younger members too...who are very decent players.

Do come and join us for a game and be surprised how it will lift your game.

This weekend its a round of stableford at the usual tee off time. the weather is finally warming up a touch - but still cool enough to warrant a jumper being worn. So, come on down and see what you're made of. Do you go to water when putting or do you have ice in your veins..? Arr..

G'day folks. Well it's a quick one today and no pictures due to the editor being away.

The event held was the Masters played for the first (hopefully last) time as a teams stableford event. Alternate shots were the order of the day, which possibly put some players off in participating.

On the bright side it was a perfect day for golf with a max of 25C and spring not too far away.

Thanks to Rod Smith for his sponsorship today.

The winners, and dual champions for 2026 were Scott Ryan and Glenn Carroll on 38 points. There were also some horror scores in the teens that I shall not dignify with including to save the players dignity.

Off the blues is hard!

It's back to individual stableford next week..usual time.

Frozen balls. Ever played with them? Difficult to compress, difficult to hold. Most uncomfortable to play with or even hold at the best of times.

Well, Perth has been subject to a bout of freezing weather again and this situation occurs more frequently than before. Fortunately, this Sunday it promises to be a nice sunny day with the temperature warming up considerably.

Its another major event, being the Masters. This year however it will be a team event instead of individual as last years winner, being the sponsor, has determined it to be the case.

It will be a two ball foursome event with teams using one ball and hitting alternate shots. One player hits off the even tees, the other hits off the odd tees with players hitting alternate shots. The team handicap will be the average of the individual handicaps, rounded up if necessary. So, the trophy will be shared by two players instead of one. (Two Masters champions?) A precedence has been set.

Yes, its a bit complicated, a bit like trying to understand algorithms on the internet, but nothing we can't handle.

Anyway that's it. It is a major so its worthwhile winning.

See you there..
