Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Eddie Mabo.
A true game changer, Eddie Mabo helped shift the course of history through his determination and advocacy for Indigenous land rights. His efforts led to the landmark Mabo Decision, which recognised Native Title in Australia and overturned the idea of terra nullius.
Thanks to his work, the Meriam people’s connection to their land was legally recognised, paving the way for the Native Title Act and a huge step forward for justice and recognition.
A big legacy from one determined voice!
