It is with great sadness that "Our Hub Cairns" has now closed. I want to reach out and sincerely thank everyone who supported us along the way.
To our volunteers — thank you. You were just as passionate as I was about the Hub and the young people we served. What we achieved was only possible because of your commitment and belief in doing things differently.
I want to give special thanks to Amber. Over the past several months, she was our rock. She understood the vision of what we were trying to build and stood beside our programs with unwavering support.
The program I was most passionate about, and truly believe would have curbed youth crime, was our In-Home Family Support Program, where real work happens — in the home, with families, before crisis becomes court.
The second program close to my heart was for young girls experiencing or at risk of domestic violence: “Never Settle for Less – You Are Worth More.” These programs mattered, and they worked.
I also want to acknowledge those who chose to spread lies about me — despite never meeting me or stepping foot inside the Hub. Their words did not weaken me. They made me stronger, and they taught me the importance of staying focused on the work, not the noise.
I am not giving up on reducing youth crime or supporting vulnerable kids and families. I will continue — just in a different way.
This is not the end. It’s a change of direction.

OUR HUB CAIRNS HERO
Amber is the true hero of Our Hub Cairns. She has been an absolute godsend to our organisation and the community we serve. Amber consistently goes above and beyond her role, giving far more than what is ever expected of her.
Her dedication, compassion and reliability have made a profound difference to the lives of our kids and families. Amber shows up every day with patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to helping others, often stepping in wherever support is needed without hesitation.
She builds trust with young people, provides stability for families in crisis, and brings heart and integrity to everything she does. Her presence at the Hub creates a safe, supportive environment where people feel valued, heard and cared for.
Amber’s impact is not measured by words alone, but by the positive change she brings to our community every single day. Our Hub simply would not be what it is without her. She is truly deserving of recognition and this award.

To Our Local Leaders — We Need You to Show Up

We all say we want youth crime to stop, but when the community steps up — we’re left standing alone.

OUR HUB CAIRNS is 100% run by volunteers giving kids a safe space and a second chance. Yet not one government department, Council member, or local MP has referred a single young person — or even visited.

These kids don’t trust the system. That’s why we’re here.
If we’re serious about change, it’s time for government to partner with grassroots programs that already have community trust.
