What a night.

A massive thank you to every single person who came down and supported local original music at ANCHOR DROP // Autumn Edition. Seeing so many people turn up, connect, dance, listen, and support these artists is exactly why we do this.

To all of the bands and artists who shared their music with us, thank you! The quality of original music coming out of Cairns is second to none, and we're proud to help create a space where it can be celebrated.

A huge thank you to the team at Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron and Hook and Sail Catering for backing local music and providing such a fantastic venue for the event.

A special thank you to Nathan David Kelly - Photographer, Greg Bolton and Rolly Antilef for filming and photographing the event and helping us capture the atmosphere that makes Anchor Drop what it is.

Thank you to ProNoiz Studio for choosing Anchor Drop as the setting for the pilot episode of their new web series. We're honoured to have been part of it and can't wait to see the finished result.

Events like this don't happen without an incredible crew behind the scenes. Huge thanks to Matt, Nick, Heni, Jack, Tessa, Dilja, Phoebe and Wilma for all the work that went into making the night happen. From artist liaison and ticketing through to production, logistics, setup and pack down, your efforts were felt across every part of the event.

Most importantly, thank you to YOU - the audience. Buying a ticket, bringing your friends, sharing a post, cheering for a band, grabbing a drink, or simply showing up all helps build a stronger future for original music in our region.

Anchor Drop exists because artists, venues, crew, media and audiences all choose to show up and support one another. We don't take that for granted.

📸 We've got hundreds of photos to sort through, so keep an eye out for a proper photo dump later this week.

Next up, we drop again on AUG 15 with a hip hop, reggae and funk-tinged edition of Anchor Drop. We've got another huge lineup of local talent ready to go, and we can't wait to do it all again.

Online tickets close tonight at midnight - but tickets will also be available on the door.

Introducing: Broden AJ Tyrrell - he's back in town and with a new band behind him, they'll be gracing the stage at ANCHOR DROP // Autumn Edition on May 30th at the Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron

Broden Tyrrell has been a musician from birth. His upbringing revolved around a musical family whose roots lay deeply in Aboriginal Land. Growing up on country, soul and Aboriginal rock has shaped his current relationship with music. Passed through his roots, his voice carries depth and resilience. The kind of voice that makes you cry with a burning heart whilst a shy smile sticks to your face. The kind of love Broden has for music helps you see all the love the world has to offer. Broden has spent much of his career in multiple projects touring nationally. National tours with Tiana Khasi, Los Caracoles, In The Element and Izy have shaped a deep connection with people Australia wide.

Hailing from the tropical region of North Queensland, Australia, The Stone Kings are an indie rock outfit blending classic songwriting with raw guitar-driven energy. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as The Beatles and modern garage-rock revivalists like The Strokes, the band crafts music that balances melodic sensibility with gritty attitude.

Their sound merges jangling guitars, driving rhythms, and hook-focused songwriting with the heavier edge associated with Grunge and Punk rock. The result is a style that moves between vintage rock influences and contemporary indie energy—melodic yet raw, nostalgic yet urgent.

Emerging from North Queensland’s grassroots music scene, The Stone Kings developed their identity through a shared friendship and appreciation for the rebellious spirit of rock music. Their songs often combine punchy guitar riffs, dynamic rhythms, and memorable choruses, reflecting both the melodic craftsmanship of classic rock and the stripped-back intensity of garage and punk traditions.
