When our young mob steps into the gym, it’s about way more than just landing a punch.

For many of our youth, the gloves represent a chance to leave the weight of the world at the door. At Bori Muy, we use boxing as a tool to help manage stress and build that mental toughness they need for the rounds of life.

It’s about focus. It’s about breathing. It’s about finding that inner strength when things get tough.

We see it every week: the transformation from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered. That’s the real 'why' behind the gloves. We aren't just training athletes; we're supporting resilient leaders.

Ever noticed how much easier it is to open up and just be yourself when you’re surrounded by people who get where you’re coming from? That’s exactly the vibe at Bori Muy’s programs for Indigenous youth. Our culturally safe spaces aren’t just about having a yarn: they’re about belonging, connecting, and growing strong together. When you know your culture and your story is respected, it sparks real confidence and gives mental health a boost. Whether it’s in our wellbeing boxing program or at community events, you’ll find support, motivation, and a whole lot of laughs: backed by traditional ways blending with modern wellness. It's more than a place; it’s a movement. Ready for stronger spirits?

We had the privilege of sitting down with brother Theeran Pearson (P***y) and his incredible family for a good yarn about the amazing work they're doing and their vision for the future of our young people in Yarrabah through their organisations Ganyjira Aboriginal Corporation

The connection was unreal. We quickly realised we share the same passion for creating opportunities, building strong futures, and empowering the next generation. The conversation flowed so naturally, we could have yarned all day!

We're excited to watch their journey grow and look forward to seeing the positive impact they'll continue to make in the community.

Watch this space — great things are coming for Yarrabah. 💛🖤❤️

The annual Cairns Edor Carnival 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🏃🏽‍♂️

A proud initiative designed and created by Harbrow Mentoring and Our Future Mentors. The Cairns Edor Carnival was ignited in 2022, and has continued to grow each year into one of the most anticipated events for young people and families across Far North Queensland 🔆🔆🔆

Edor, a fun running and tagging game that has been played throughout Far North Queensland for centuries, is much more than a game. It brings children, families and communities together while celebrating culture, connection, teamwork whilst having a whole heap of FUN.

Over the years, the Carnival has developed into a platform for strong partnerships, exciting collaborations and investment by community organisations who come together to support an amazing annual event tailored for our young people.

A huge thank you to Cairns Regional Council for their ongoing support of the Cairns Edor Carnival. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our annual sponsors, Gold Coast Suns and Kylie Young Consultancy, whose commitment helps make this event possible.

We are excited to announce and welcome Aspire Cairns Community Limited as new sponsor and event facilitation support. Thank you for jumping on board and becoming part of the Edor Carnival journey.

Sometimes the rain puts a stop to our outdoor activities, but we always have a Plan B! 🌧️🍿

Yesterday's adventure turned into MJ on the big screen, with plenty of popcorn, lollies, and laughs to go around. The weather may have changed our plans, but it didn't stop us from having a great time together.

🔥 Celebrating Mabo Day – 3 June 🔥

Today, Bori Muy proudly honours the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, a Meriam man from the Torres Strait whose determination changed Australia's history.

Mabo Day commemorates the landmark 1992 High Court decision that recognised the native title rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, overturning the doctrine of terra nullius and acknowledging the deep and enduring connection First Nations peoples have to Country.

At Bori Muy, we acknowledge Eddie Mabo's courage, leadership and unwavering commitment to justice. His legacy continues to inspire future generations to stand strong in culture, identity and truth.

As we celebrate Mabo Day, we reflect on the importance of respecting culture, honouring history and working together towards a stronger future.

Honouring Land. Respecting Rights. Building the Future.
