How are changing conditions affecting them?
How do species depend on one another?
And what can we do to help protect them?

These are the questions that rainforest research helps us explore.

Within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, research is helping us uncover more about the unique species, ecosystems and relationships that make this place so unique. This National Threatened Species Day, we’re recognising the researchers who are helping us discover more about the rainforest and the species that depend on it.🔬🍃

We spent World Rainforest Day eve with fellow nature lovers at the vibrant Cairns Ecofiesta 🌿💚

From sharing stories of the ancient Wet Tropics and chatting about why tropical rainforest conservation matters, to building mini native bee hotels together, it was a joy to connect with so many people who care deeply about the environment.

Today, on World Rainforest Day, we reflect on this year’s theme, The Forest Within You, with a reminder that our connection to nature runs deep, and that protecting rainforests starts with the choices we make and the communities we build.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Skyrail Rainforest Foundation stall, got creative with us, and helped keep the eco-inspiration buzzing. Together, we’re supporting native pollinators, strengthening our community, and helping ensure these remarkable ecosystems continue to thrive for generations to come.
