Our Story
We live in Cairns on the doorstep of one of the world’s largest marine parks ‘The Great Barrier Reef’, where a huge pool of talented underwater artists and diving enthusiasts live. The Great Barrier Reef Underwater Film Festival is the night to bring the North Queensland marine and diving industry together with the local community and share our celebration of the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea. We want to show you how great the Great Barrier Reef is.
We hold an annual film and photo competition with incredible prizes. We have exhibitions in the foyer from dive operators and holidays, camera equipment and scuba diving equipment too. We hold a seminar/workshop during the day with lectures from leading marine scientists and underwater filmmakers.
