Far North Queensland Legacy

Far North Queensland Legacy Far North Queensland's veteran families carry an invisible weight. FNQ Legacy makes sure they never carry it alone.

In 1923 Legacy made a promise to help veterans’ families carry on with their lives after the loss of their loved one. It was a simple promise that Legacy keeps today; providing the same stability, guidance and assistance that a partner would normally provide to his or her family. Today, we support partners and children of veterans who gave their lives or health serving our country.

🎶 Finding Our Voice Together 🎶

Would You Like to Be Part of a Defence Family Choir?

FNQ Legacy is exploring the creation a Defence Family choir for right here in Far North Queensland, and we'd love to hear from you!

Inspired by the incredible success of the Australian Military Wives Choir, we know that music can bring people, young and old, together in a powerful way. More than just singing, a choir creates friendship, connection, support, and a sense of belonging, especially for those who understand the unique experiences that come with military life.

Whether you're a spouse, partner, widow, parent, grandparent, or family member connected to Defence service, no singing experience would be necessary, just a willingness to join in, have fun, and be part of a supportive community.

Choirs like these have helped Defence families across Australia build lifelong friendships, find support during times of change, and share the joy of music together. As one of our members previously involved with a defence choir member said, "It means the world knowing that there's this little warm network that's just waiting for you."

We are currently gauging interest to see if there is enough enthusiasm to get a local group started.

It was a full house and full hearts at the FNQ Legacy Office today with The Minister for Veterans Affairs and Defence Personnel Matt Keogh MP joining us to make a special announcement.

Our Legacy Links Program is a support program for Veteran’s families who have or are transitioning from Defence. Today, this program has received over $83,000 as part of the Defence Family Support Funding Program.

We are incredibly grateful for this funding and the difference it will make to the families we support.

We would like to thank the Minister for his and the Federal Government’s commitment to the veteran community in the Far North.
We’d also like to thank The Member for Leichardt, Matt Smith MP for his continued advocacy.

What an incredible day!

We'd like to express our gratitude once again to The CaPTA Group for the generosity shown to FNQ Legacy and the Families of Veterans on Queensland Day this year.

To celebrate Rainforestation's 50th Anniversary, they chose to welcome veterans, their families and supporters of FNQ Legacy as guests of honour at Army Duck Day.

This special event saw hundreds of guests experiencing the Koala and Wildlife Park, enjoying a delicious BBQ Lunch at Outback Restaurant, and having an amphibious rainforest adventure with Army Duck Tours operating throughout the afternoon.

Coinciding with the anniversary of D-Day in 1944, when DUKW amphibious vehicles were used extensively during the Allied landing at Normandy; it was a fitting day to reflect, remember and give back, with this event also raising funds to help build FNQ Legacy House.

Time and time again CaPTA give back to the community they call home, and this time, they chose to support FNQ Legacy.
CaPTA’s combined contribution of donated guest tickets, the barbecue lunch and proceeds from Army Duck Rides sold on the day totalling a phenomenal $20,000!

Pip, Michael, Kieran, Andrew and your team - thank you for bringing so much joy to our families and supporting our organisation with so much passion and heart. Thank you for your enormous generosity and respect you have shown to those who have served and their families.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
We truly appreciate your service and your sacrifice and all of the support you show to us, to each other and the community.
