Fri 19/6 we are heading back to for a Winter Solstice, all ages outdoor ecstatic dance. This is a rare and once in a blue moon (once a yr thang!) all community welcome dance 🤗 Gather your tribe, and come dance on natures dance floor with us ✨🍃

OUR FLOW:

6PM doors open + communiTea / cacao avail
6.45 doors closed / guidelines & winter solstice opening
7PM Winter solstice ecstatic dance journey by DJ
8.30PM Sound integration shavasana by
8.50-9 circle and close

TO BRING:

~ BYO mug for communiTea (teas complimentary)
~ cash or card for 💯 local, ceremonial hot cacao ☕️ by Organic Matter Wholefood ($10 per cup)
~ yoga matt/blanket to lay on grass
~ warm clothes for pre and post dance
~ torch for exit out of Skypark, back to your car (carpooling thread avail in our FB group btw)
~ offerings to contribute to our natural earth alter such as flowers or the like.

🍃There may be sprinkles @ Smithfield over the next week or on the day, which never kept a good earth-celebration down and we will be dancing no matter the weather, together then xo

MEET YOUR DJ // STARSEED💫🎶

In 2004, two hotel rookies traded uniforms for turn-tables. Side-by-side with Will Brisbane, I learned break-beat cuts, hip-hop scratches, and seamless blends that once lit Cairns nightlife. A long hiatus called me inward, yet rhythm kept breathing inside.

Spiritual awakening shifted the compass: bars lost their shine, but sound kept whispering until Ecstatic Dance appeared — barefoot, sober, heart-open space where genre walls dissolve and BPMs rise and fall like breath. Curiosity drew me in; the mirror revealed new wings.

🖤 FAREWELL SOLOMON 🎧🎶🕺

For almost 30 years Solomon has been creating journeys for dance floors. With his roots in the outdoor festival culture since the early 2000’s, his taste of music is broad spectrum and full of colour. Since being initiated into the Ecstatic Dance movement from 2013-2017 his perspective of dance as therapy completely changed. Later in 2018 this was solidified and a new project was born. After 7 years of crafting Ecstatic Dance sets, he has found his groove, and you will find him on the dance floor as much as turning k***s and pushing buttons.

His dance journey sets maintain a focus on Global Bass and Ethnic Electronica, drawing inspiration from various Rhythms, Grooves and Textures woven together. Expect a tapestry of sounds and stories, carefully woven together with a clear intention to guide the dance floor into a frenzy of expression and deeper movement.

“I am a lover of many sounds. Overall it is Global Bass Music. I also love acoustic, instrumental world music, and especially when it’s infused with electronic production. I love Folktronica and Village Bass music. I love earthy Tribal Bass, Plant Based House and Botanical Bass doused with Ethnic and Tribal influences. I am also a lover of Wonky Half Time with a Dubstep edge and some Tribal Trap with a sprinkle of Spiritual Gangsta Whomp Tech

This will Solomon's last dance with us for some time as he ventures south to fresh pastures.

Let's send him off with a big EDFNQ boogie!

🎧 MEET YOUR DJ // INTREPID BY DESIGN 🎶

Intrepid By Design is all about exploring self and life in a bold and fearless manner.
The curiosity and playfulness that this requires is something we are innately born with. It is how we navigate and discover this world from the moment we draw our first breath.
Awe and wonder at what is, and the discovery of what this means to us.
Life and experiences often cause us to learn to shirk away form and avoid the unknown as we grow. However it is a vital aspect of being able to grow into and beyond our potential.

Fun is such an easy and highly effective way of becoming familiar once again with the awe and wonder of life, and reigniting the Intrepid Adventurer within all of us. Friday night's set will be an opportunity to simply just have fun. Pure, unapologetic, authentic fun. You can expect a mix of vibes that include bass, house, afro, downtempo, dub, folktronica, ambient, tribal and more as you step out of the craziness of this world and into the magic of the music.
