This evening, I had a call from a local lady named Leslie who watched a gang gang cockatoo get hit by a car. She got the gang gang off the road and stayed with it until I got there (Bless her cotton socks❤️). The gang gang slowly improved. Yet again, whilst getting grass I turned around to see a great improvement 🙏😁. She was up and standing on the edge of the seat in my car. Great to see ❤️. A vet check tomorrow and then hopefully just a little rest and recovery at Narbeview and then she can return home

Thankyou to Grace and Daniel for making the call to Narbeview last night, and heading my way to meet me with little Annika. Unfortunately a wombat ran out in front of Daniel’s car and he collided with the wombat. Grace and Daniel stopped and pulled the wombat from the road and checked whether it was male or female, only to find it was a female with a Joey in the pouch. Grace took the Joey from the pouch and headed to meet me.
Thankyou so much to you both for stopping and checking mum wombat, making sure that she had passed away after the collision, and also saving her Joey.

Picked up this little one on Whanregarwen Rd today. He was flailing on the road after being hit by a car in front of me. Anyway I was on my way to Murrindindi to fit a burrow flap and provide medication to Alex so that he could continue to treat a wombat with sarcoptic mange. Then to get grass on the way home. Then I look in the car and the galah is flying around in my car, obviously feeling much better now. A bit of rest and relaxation overnight, then rerelease tomorrow 😄

So Big Bessie has had the all clear with her bloods. We cannot find anything wrong with Big Bess at all, other than her being quite sedate and nice mannered🤣. So after her vacation at Narbeview with grass being home delivered to her door, she has returned home to Adrian and Pauline. She will have to find her own grass now🤭. We do believe that Big Bessie may have been hand raised, hence her demeanour. She obviously was coping quite well at Adrian and Pauline’s home, as she’s a very big girl with not a scratch or mark from fighting at all. Also not to forget that she has a healthy little Joey in her pouch too. This is her home. Adrian and Pauline will now continue to keep an eye on her and contact us with any concerns.

A huge Thankyou to Adrian and Pauline for contacting us with concerns for Big Bessie’s welfare, and also keeping an eye on her into the future. We cannot express how so very grateful we are. It is so beautiful that you both care. You are both just amazing. Contact us anytime🙏🙏❤️❤️. Good luck on your journeys Big Bess, and keep that little one close.

Yesterday morning, we had this little fella come in to Narbeview.
Thankyou to Gail, April and Richie for making the call to Narbeview after they were cutting up a fallen tree and found this little one. So this little fella is an Eastern Pygmy Possum. He went back home today in a little hay filled box in a tree hollow near where he was found, as Gail, April and Richie said that a bigger one ran up a tree when they were cutting up the wood. Hopefully the bigger one is the little fella’s mother and they will find each other tonight.

So I think Big Bessie could have possibly been hand raised????? . I’m not sure at this point, as we are still awaiting blood results. She is still very quiet, but gee she’s contented and seems quite happy to just lounge around🤣🤣❤️❤️. Hoping to see some results of bloods soon. In the meantime, she’s doing just fine and so is her pouch Joey❤️

As a wildlife carer, this rescue was really difficult. Unfortunately these feed stations for the livestock also bring birds. Sadly these cockatoos and corellas got stuck in the mud, and had to be rescued from the mud and cleaned, as best we could. Hopefully they will all recover well.
A huge Thankyou to Matt and Sherrie for helping.

On Sunday evening, Lisa and her dad found this beautiful girl in the bush in Jerusalem Creek Eildon. She was in a bad way, so Lisa called to get her some help. Lisa explained that she had no ears and wounds behind her front legs.
I went out to meet Lisa and her dad who thankfully stayed to keep an eye on the wombat. I’m sorry I got lost Lisa😩. Thankyou to you both. I scooped up the wombat and brought it back to Narbeview, for further assessment.

Unfortunately this beautiful girl had been attacked by wild dogs. Her ears had been chewed off and she had deep wounds exposing bone behind both of her front legs. The bone was protruding from the wound on her right side, and the end of the bone was gone completely. Sadly there is a problem with wild dogs in areas out here, and sadly they can attack our wildlife. Unfortunately, this beautiful girl had to be humanely euthanised to end her pain and suffering. A very sad outcome😢

The Eurasian coot had multiple tangles of fishing line in both of its feet joining its feet together. All fishing line removed. No broken skin or lacerations which is amazing.

On Saturday morning, we received a call from a member of public with concerns that an Eurasian coot was stuck in fishing line in Eildon. A massive Thankyou to OEG in Eildon for lending us a canoe to rescue the poor coot. A massive Thankyou also to Trevor and Brayden for coming to my rescue in order to rescue the coot😆. Amazing job by both of you. So much appreciated 🙏. Absolute legends
