As the new season begins ⚽️— the first under Football South West, and not the Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Association (LNJSA) — we reflect on the history and hard work that defined our organisation.

The LNJSA was volunteer-led and not-for-profit, dedicated to providing enjoyable and competitive soccer for the children and youth of our region, and to fostering player development at all levels.

No mission statement could adequately reflect the depth of contribution made by those who gave their time, expertise and energy to this Association over the years.

To everyone who served on committees, volunteered, donated or simply believed in our mission: Thank You

Your efforts created opportunities, friendships and outcomes that will endure.

We are proud of what the LNJSA has been, and realistic about what it must become now: a legacy, rather than an ongoing organisation. Our duty in winding up is to be transparent, lawful and compassionate. We owe that to our members, our partners and the communities we served.

Let us carry forward the best of the LNJSA—its spirit of service, its commitment to community and the friendships it fostered—into whatever comes next. The Association may be closing but the people and the values remain. ♾️

Lacey Heys⭐️

Lacey has been recognised at tonight’s NPL WA Awards night as the best young player in the NPL Women’s for the 2025 Season. This comes as no surprise after the amazing season she had and overall she finished FOURTH on the gold medal tally putting her amongst some of the greatest names in WA football.

The LNJSA were saddened to hear news of Cherie Lovegrove's diagnosis. Laney is an ex-LNJSA player and Kyron still plays for Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Association. The Lovegrove family will be facing challenging times ahead.You can support the family via the GoFundMe link in the shared post 🙏

Our U15 Firebirds Goal Keeper, Laney Lovegrove , has been given the heartbreaking news that her mum, Cherie, has been diagnosed with an incurable, grade 4 Glioma also known as Glioblastoma.

World Health Organisation classified grade 4 Glioma, is the most aggressive type of brain cancer, characterized by rapid growth and poor prognosis.

Cherie has had a Craniotomy to remove the initial tumour successfully and will now be starting chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Her multi-disciplinary team and Cherie will be fighting to extend life expectancy and maintain quality of life with her family.
This will be a long and challenging time for the family as there is no known cure to date.

Since her first seizure in June and many medical issues prior to the diagnosis of Gliobastoma, she has not been able to work and Marcus has had to take extended time off to support Cherie and the children. As you can imagine, this has taken a huge emotional and financial toll.

Your donations will help the Lovegrove family in the immediate future and to be able to setup the necessary health care plans it requires to manage this life threatening cancer. This will also provide the capacity to access any medical trials outside of Western Australia as they become available.

Your kindness will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small.

🤩 LNJSA Jillaroos Closing Ceremony 🤩
How wonderful it was to see everyone together for the Jillaroos final night!

Thanks to our special guests Isabella Foletta (Football West & Perth Glory) and City of Busselton Councillor Jarrod Kennedy.

Over the past 12 Fridays we’ve seen so much enthusiasm, talent, and laughter on the field — and the support from parents, families, and guardians has been incredible. 🩷💜

This season was a huge success:
⚽ Participation grew by 20% - we had 24 teams!
⚽ Capel Wolves and Vasse Soccer Club became new game night hosts this year joining Dunsborough Towns FC, Busselton City FC, and Football Margaret River.
⚽ We watched Jillaroos players grow — building the confidence to step up into Saturday league and trial for Country Week, trying out new positions like goalkeeper, developing their skills, and enjoying football as a fun, social experience with friends.

A big thank you to our supporters — Football West, City of Busselton, and event sponsors Busselton Skin Cancer Clinic and The SET, Vasse 🙌

Our deepest thanks go to the many volunteers who make Jillaroos possible:

A huge thank you to our amazing host clubs and their volunteers – from setting up fields, providing game leaders, and keeping our Jillaroos and families well-fed at the canteen!

Next stop: Vasse Soccer Club with an exciting Come & Try ALL ABILITIES Session too – join in fun activities led by Football Futures Foundation coaches. 😃

Football West reiterates its support for our referees and assistant referees and condemns any form of abuse towards match officials.

Abuse directed at match officials from players, coaches, club officials, spectators and/or parents is completely unacceptable and is something all parties must work to eliminate.

Football West will not hesitate to enforce sanctions when relevant.

Match officials play a vital role in ensuring competitions take place in a safe and inclusive environment, and referee wellbeing is crucial for the health of our sport.
