IRB CREW COURSE

Busselton SLSC is pleased to offer the opportunity to obtain the IRB Crew Award. Sick of getting stuck on a Board for Water Safety Events? Want to become eventually become an IRB Driver? Like to have fun in the Surf? Then this course is for you. Based on feedback received from the last course, the number of sessions has been reduced to only 5 sessions (plus a Dry Session for those brand-new to IRBs). Some additional information:

If you are interested in completing the course, you must fill out the form, unless you already completed this form a month or so ago;
If you are new to IRBs, then all sessions listed below are mandatory. If you have already completed part of a crew course, please contact me to discuss further, as you will likely not have to attend EVERY session (though you are very welcome to); and

Session dates are as follows:
Dry Session: Tues 30 Jun26 (exact time based on candidate availability, not mandatory for those who have already attended a Dry Session)
Flat Water Session: Sat 4th Jul26 (not mandatory for those who have already attended a Flat-Water Session)
Surf Session #1: Sat 11th Ju26
Surf Session #2: Sat 18th Ju26
Surf Session #3: Sat 26th Jul26
Surf Session #4: Sat 1st Aug26 (includes Mock Assessment, will be mandatory for all)
Assessment: Sat 8th Aug26

Session times are as follows
Dry Session will last approx. 90 mins, during in the evening at Busselton SLSC;
Wet Sessions will run from approx. 0600-1400, depending on conditions

What an amazing night!

Last weekend we celebrated the end of another successful season on the beach with drinks and smiles all round. A huge congratulations to all of the award recipients! 🏅

Massive thaks to the very talented Amara Maree for keeping the vibes high and making our night special. 💃🕺

IRB Crew Course
Busselton Surf Lifesaving Club is excited to announce another opportunity for members to obtain their IRB Crew Award. This award will allow you to crew an IRB (the big inflatable boats)! If you are interested in supporting Sunday Nipper activities and/or the many events held over summer in an IRB, this course is for you.

All members—young or old, experienced or new to surf lifesaving—who hold their Bronze Medallion and will be 15 years old on or before the assessment date (Saturday, 8 August 2026) are encouraged to apply.

If you are interested in attending this course, please register your interest. Even if you are unsure of your availability, we encourage you to put your name forward so we can consider you for this or future training opportunities, including courses run at other clubs.

Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue Course
We will be running this course on 24th - 26th April 2026.This award will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to participate in search and rescue operations, learning how to perform a search, advanced rescue strategies, advanced water entries and patient recovery. This is open to all members with a Bronze Medallion and aged 16+
