πŸ’™ Every response tells a story.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who have already shared their experiences through the 2026 Death Literacy Index Survey.

There is still time to contribute, but the survey closes at the end of August.

🎁 As a thank you, participants can enter the draw to win:

🚲 A Revolution E-Bikes valued at $2,100

πŸ–οΈ A Pullman Bunker Bay Resort getaway for two valued at $400

πŸ’™ Grief Literacy Matters

Every year, more than 185,000 Australians die, leaving an estimated 1.6 million people experiencing grief and loss. But grief doesn't only come from death. People also experience loss through serious illness, relationship breakdown, financial hardship, loss of independence, and social isolation.

Grief literacy is about understanding how grief affects us and knowing how to support others when they need it most.

By completing the 2026 Death Literacy Index Survey, you'll help us better understand how our community supports people through grief, caregiving, dying and bereavement.

MYTH: Talking about death makes people uncomfortable.

FACT: Research shows that having conversations about death, dying and grief helps people feel more informed, prepared and supported when difficult times arise. Something our 2019 Hospice volunteer cohort pictured below, and all our current and former volunteers, understand well.

Death literacy isn't about focusing on death. It's about helping people make informed choices, support loved ones, navigate grief, and know where to find help when they need it.

πŸ’™ That's why Busselton Hospice Care Incorporated is asking our community to complete the 2026 Death Literacy Index Survey.

By sharing your experiences, you'll help us better understand local needs and continue building a more compassionate community.

πŸ’™ Busselton is continuing to lead the way in compassionate communities.

With the recent renaming of our community hub at 5 Craig Street to Compassionate Care Geographe, we're reinforcing a simple message: caring for one another through illness, grief, ageing and loss is everyone's business.

Our previous Death Literacy Index Survey showed Busselton scored significantly higher than Australian averages.

Can we do even better in 2026?

Good News Busselton!

Our previous community Death Literacy Index score was significantly higher than Australian community averages.

That suggests people in our community are already having conversations and supporting one another when it matters most.

But can we do even better?

Complete the 2026 survey and help us track our progress.

πŸ’™πŸ‘— THREE YEARS OF BLUE, FUN AND FUNDRAISING! πŸ‘—πŸ’™

What do you get when you combine blue dresses, a walk through town, great people, generous sponsors and a passion for supporting local families?

πŸ’™ A giant cheque for $3,121.40! πŸ’™

A huge thank you to the Busselton Hash House Harriers and Rocky Ridge Brewing Co for supporting Go Blue for June for the third consecutive year through the now-famous Blue Dress Amble.

In the photo, we're proud to celebrate this fantastic community effort with Busselton Hash House Harriers President Brendan Vincent and BHCI Board Member (and proud Hashie) Tim Baker.

This year's total was made up of: πŸ’™ $1,066.40 cash donations collected during the Amble
πŸ’™ $305 in card donations
πŸ’™ $250 donated by Rocky Ridge Brewing Co.
πŸ’™ $1,500 contributed by the Busselton Hash House Harriers

That's a whole lot of blue for a wonderful cause!

Thank you to everyone who dressed up, donated, walked, laughed, and helped spread the word about Busselton Hospice Care. The Blue Dress Amble has become one of our favourite Go Blue for June traditions, proving that a little bit of fun and a lot of community spirit can achieve amazing things.

πŸ’™ Here's to Year 4!
