END OF YEAR PARADE - 2025

On the 6th of December 511 ACU held their End of Year Parade at the Rotary Park of Remembrance to close another year of achievements and hard work. Following the parade Cadets and their families were invited to the RSL for drinks and nibbles and for the presentation of awards.

A big congratulations to all those Cadets who received awards following their performance in 2025. Your commitment, willingness to learn and ongoing enthusiasm played vital roles in your growth and achievements this year.

On behalf of the Unit I would like to thank the dignitaries and guests who attended the parade: City of Busselton Mayor, Mayor Phill Cronin, MAJ(AAC) Jarrod Hales (53 BN Commanding Officer), CUO Lincoln Godwin (53 BN Cadet Under Officer), CUO Bianca Pearce (511 ACU Company Commander), Busselton RSL Sub-Branch Executive Committee Members, Chris Mullin (President), Jack Evans (Vice President), Christine Churchill (Secretary) and Greg Lewis (Warden).

Once again, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at 511 ACU. Whether you have stepped up this year into a new role, represented the Unit at activities and exercises in the Battalion or the Brigade, or attended weekly parade nights - thank you for your continued support.

REMEMBRANCE DAY 2025

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, we paused to remember and honour the legacy of those who fought for our country.

511 ACU were honoured to be apart of Busselton’s Remembrance Day ceremony with cadets forming the members of the Catafalque Party. Members of the Unit also had a chance to lay a wreath at the memorial.

We would like to extend our thanks to Busselton RSL Sub-Branch for the invitation to participate in today’s ceremony.

Lest We Forget.

COMPANY COMMANDER FAREWELL

Last night we finished term 3 by farewelling our Company Commander CUO Smith. CUO Smith has been a valued member of our Unit since joining the AAC. Her commitment, leadership, and the example she has continued to set for others has never gone unnoticed and has been a huge part of 511 ACUs success. Her personal growth, dedication, leadership and discipline has been amazing to watch first hand. The night ended with the Unit carrying out a march past as a sign of respect and to thank CUO Smith for the last time.

In the coming weeks CUO Smith will take the next step in her ADF career as she starts her recruit training at Kapooka. While the AAC is not a recruitment organisation, Cadets seeking a career in the Australian Army join the AAC for a taste of military life before enlisting.

From everyone at 511 ACU we wish you the best of luck and we hope you drop by to visit us soon.

PLATOON CHALLENGE CUP 2025

The race is back on and full steam ahead for the Platoon Challenge Cup. Every parade night Cadets participate in a Cup activity relating to what was taught that night. This week the activity was run by 1 Platoon Redbacks' Platoon Sergeant and consisted of each Platoon working among themselves to complete a navigation data sheet in the quickest possible time without making any mistakes. Braving the cold weather, they set out on their challenge. Both Platoons finished their sheets but 1 Platoon came out on top.

With only 1 point the difference, will 2 Platoon Sharks go back-to-back or will 1 Platoon Redbacks take their maiden title in 2025?

FIRST PARADE NIGHT - TERM 3

On Monday night we welcomed back the Cadets for an action packed but cold and wintery parade night.

During the night all Cadets took part in a first aid scenario putting their knowledge to the test. Cadets were wrapped up in all types of bandages and provided crucial first aid to any ailment.

Also congratulations to CDTCPL Hesp for his promotion following on from an impressive performance on the Junior Leaders Course during the school holidays. We can’t wait to see you step up into your new role.
