Meet some of our tiniest patients 😍

We are currently caring for six beautiful, precious Western Pygmy Possums who are all in the very capable and loving hands of our amazing rehabilitator Veronica Lepidi as they grow stronger and prepare for their return to the wild.

Did you know the Western Pygmy Possum weighs just 8-21 grams? These incredibly tiny nocturnal marsupials, although relatively widespread throughout the South West, can be incredibly difficult to find.

They are tiny, strictly nocturnal and naturally very elusive so many people may never even realise these little treasures are living around them.

Please remember that even our smallest native animals play an important role in our local ecosystem.

A HUGE thank you to the Busselton community today! 👏👏👏

What a morning! We picked up 4 little ducklings early today after they had fallen down a drain opposite the police station. Mum and the other 6 bubs were behind a locked gate but eventually they managed to slip out the back. We then had the challenge of safely luring Mum and her 6 ducklings across busy streets and roundabouts and all the way down to the river.

And along the way, we even came across another mum with 9 ducklings and were able to help them too! 🥰

A massive thank you to the three wonderful people who stopped to help us and to every single driver who stopped and waited patiently while we safely moved these little families. Not one person tried to drive past us. ❤️

It was such a fantastic example of our community looking out for wildlife. Busselton, you deserve a HUGE pat on the back! 💐🙏❤️

Please keep an eye out for our emerging wildlife babies🙏

We’re still seeing lots of baby oblong turtles out and about and we’re also starting to receive some very tiny Western Ringtail Possums.

A little reminder too, if you see crows pecking at something on the ground, please take a closer look. It may not be food! We recently had a very sweet 135g Western Ringtail Possum rescued after being attacked by three crows😢

If you see a baby or injured wildlife, please don’t assume it will be okay. Give us a call on 0488721424 or contact the Wildcare Helpline 9484 9055. ❤️

It’s that time of the year 🐢 volunteer Nicky spotted this tiny Southwestern Oblong Turtle hatchling making its trek toward the freshwater while we were cleaning the wildlife cages!

Hatchlings often emerge after winter rains and must navigate a big, scary world to find their permanent home

After a quick helping hand to the water's edge, it wasted no time splashing right into its new aquatic life. Look how much it loved that!

Quick Hatchling Tips:

1) Match their direction: Always move them the way they were already heading.

2) Provide cover: Place them in shallow water near plants to hide from predators

3) Watch out for cars: Keep an eye out for these tiny movers on paths and roads near wetlands!

A huge thank you to Branch Manager Lucas Zoratti and the wonderful team at Commonwealth Bank Dunsborough for recently presenting Geo Bay Wildlife Rescue with a $1,500 donation through the CommBank Community Donations Program.

This program supports hundreds of grassroots organisations across Australia, helping fund essential equipment, services and programs — and we are incredibly grateful to be one of them.

Your support makes a real difference for our local wildlife and the volunteers who care for them. Thanks for backing our work. 🫶👏

A huge thank you to City of Busselton 👏for providing a grant that enabled Geo Bay Wildlife Rescue Inc volunteers to undertake more hands-on training recently.

We were very fortunate to have Dr Meg Rodgers from WA Wildlife and Dr Natalie Bowskill from Heritage Vet conducting the training. The feedback from volunteers was extremely positive, with the sessions helping further develop skills in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation for the benefit of our local wildlife. 🦘🦉💚
