Burrum Heads Beach parkrun

So its Thursday afternoon and that's the day before , the day before, the best day of the week, and we all know that's parkrun day.

We have a near full roster of volunteers (still looking for an additional Turn Around Marshal) and Burrum brews and bites will be here for your caffeine hit.

The tide is up but still a very manageable 2.5m going out. Bring your favourite retired runners just in case you get wet feet.

As usual , volunteers please arrive by 0630 and everyone else by 0645 for the morning briefings followed by the 200m walk to the sand for an 0700 launch.

Just a reminder that Hervey Bay parkrun is still out of action due to ongoing maintenance effecting their start/finish area.

Next Saturday we are looking to fill a large portion of the roster.

We will be missing at least 4 of our regular volunteers so if you have considered volunteering please consider a trip out to Burrum Heads.

We are a small parkrun generally with less than 30 participants so you will not be under any pressure dealing with very large numbers.

We are looking to fill the following must have roles

1 x Timekeeper - FILLED Thanks Allan
1 x Barcode Scanner - FILLED Thanks Helen.
2 x Turn Around Marshals - 1 x FILLED Thanks Farmer.
1 x Beach Transition Marshal - FILLED Thanks Barb.
2 x Tail walkers - FILLED Thanks Val and Robyn.

Event 54 stowed away for another week with 23 beach enthusiasts and a couple of kangaroos enjoying the calm conditions.
Thanks to our interstate visitors from Armidale NSW & Narre Warren North VIC and not forgetting our local QLD tourists who made there way here as well.
Thanks to our volunteers Alan, Wally, Jill, Karen, Mel, Cheryl, Chris, Lynn, Barb, Robyn, Cassie and Bronwyn. Without their help this doesn't happen.
Well done Cheryl for volunteering for the 1st time and also Gary for joining the parkrun club.
Next week we do it all again with Event 55 with a 2.5m outgoing tide.

Who's ready to go for a Burrum Heads Beach parkrun ?

Yes, we are back this week and every week through until the end of September. So drag out your second most favourite pair of retired runners and join us on the beach for Event 54.

We will have a very low 1.0m incoming tide so plenty of room to move on the sand.

The volunteer roster is full and the weather prediction is for a chilly 9 degrees at 7 AM.

Unfortunately no coffee van this week so its a BYO morning or a quick trip into the shops for your caffeine hit.

Volunteers please arrive by 0630 and everyone else by 0645 for the morning briefings followed by the short walk to the beach for an 0700 departure.

This Saturday the 6th of June 2026 we are looking for a few volunteers to fill some very easy roles.

If your idea of a relaxing Saturday morning is watching the sun rise over the beach then do we have a job or 2 for you.

We hope you enjoyed your parkrun adventure this morning where ever that was. The sunrise was beautiful at Point Vernon Foreshore Reserve parkrun this morning and a big crowd enjoyed the fantastic conditions.

Anyway....we have had the last of our tidal cancellations until late September when we have another group of 4 over 8 weeks.

The dates are pinned to the top of this page so please check before planning a road trip here between 26th September and 7th November.

Next week we are back with Event 54. We still need several volunteer roles filled so if you have time please message and we will make it happen. We need

2 x Turn Around Marshals
1 x Beach Transition Marshal

Reminder - Burrum Heads Beach parkrun is cancelled this Saturday due to the high tide level. We will be back on 6th of June.

This is our last cancellation until the end of September 2026.

Hervey Bay parkrun is also cancelled due to ongoing maintenance in the area.
