Lisa Fahey Foundation

Lisa Fahey Foundation To help please visit www.lisafahey.org.au/donate Why a chook in our logo? … Lisa called all her mates “Chook”

Since 2005, the Foundation has provided financial support to families, covering essential costs so that parents & carers can focus on their health & family rather than mounting financial pressures. Lisa Fahey Foundation takes care of day-to-day cash-flow problems (pays utility bills, installs hot water systems and more), where families can't make ends meet while a primary carer receives cancer tre

atment. Currently, cases are submitted to the board through RAH and FMC social workers and those meeting the criteria receive action within 24 hours from the initial request. At just 41 years, on Remembrance Day 11 November 2003, Lisa Fahey was taken, tragically and prematurely, from her husband Steve and young children Amelia and Patrick, her parents, grandma and the hundreds of other people who loved her too. The Lisa Fahey Foundation was established to raise funds with which it commemorates Lisa’s name through acts of charity, especially towards families with a member who has cancer. Lisa and her family learned a great deal about the difficulties and challenges of living with cancer and we believe she smiles on our efforts to extend assistance, support and kindness to other families who find themselves in the same situation.

Thank you, Deloitte!

A huge thank you to the Deloitte Foundation SA, Le Point Vert (Deloitte Adelaide Social Club), everyone across the Deloitte Adelaide office, and our generous prize donors for your incredible support of the Lisa Fahey Foundation.

Through the quiz night, office raffle, morning tea, and the Deloitte Foundation's dollar-for-dollar match, together we raised over $5,000 to support South Australian families affected by cancer.

A special thank you to our prize donors for helping make the raffle such a success:

• Control Air
• Farina 00 Pasta & Wine
• Joiners Arms Hotel
• 78 Degrees Distillery

As a small, volunteer-run charity, support like this has a real and immediate impact. These funds will help keep the lights on, cover essential pharmacy costs, maintain vehicle registration so families can travel to treatment, and relieve some of the financial pressure that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your generosity will directly help South Australian families when they need it most.

500 South Australian families.

It's a milestone we're incredibly proud of, but one we don't celebrate lightly.

Each number represents a family navigating one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. For the past 21 years, our community has helped ensure they had one less thing to worry about.

To every donor, volunteer, partner, current and former Board member who has been part of this journey - thank you. This milestone belongs to you as much as it does to us.

We’re proud to share that the Lisa Fahey Foundation has been successful in receiving support through the City of Mitcham My Mitcham Community Grant program.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll be working alongside the City of Mitcham to deliver a targeted support program for families in the Mitcham community experiencing financial hardship during cancer treatment.

This initiative aligns closely with the City of Mitcham’s strategic focus on health, wellbeing, and community resilience, helping ensure local families receive practical support when they need it most.

We’re incredibly grateful to the City of Mitcham for their partnership and commitment to supporting local families through difficult times.

Together, we’re helping ensure no family faces both cancer and financial hardship alone.

Last week, Amelia and Stephen Fahey were honoured to be invited to the Burnside Rotary Club to share the work of the Lisa Fahey Foundation.

It was a privilege to connect with members of our local community, speak about the Foundation’s mission, and highlight the impact we are working to make together.

We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome, the opportunity to share our story, and the ongoing support of community organisations such as Rotary. Thank you to the Burnside Rotary Club for having us.

Margaret's biggest concern wasn't the gardening. It was keeping a roof over her head while undergoing treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer.

Unable to work, Margaret fell behind on her electricity bills and couldn't keep up with the gardening required under her rental agreement. The stress of potentially losing her home came at a time when her focus needed to be on her health.

Thanks to a referral from her social worker, the Lisa Fahey Foundation was able to pay her overdue power bills and arrange the gardening needed to keep her home secure.

Every week, families across South Australia face impossible choices while navigating cancer. Your support helps us provide timely assistance when it's needed most.

It's not too late to make your EOFY donation. Click on the link below and help us continue supporting clients like Margaret.

This week is National Volunteer Week and the theme is 'Your Year to Volunteer'.

At the Lisa Fahey Foundation, our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of people who give their time to help others - including our volunteer Board, who dedicate their time and expertise to supporting families facing cancer.

As we continue to grow, we would love to build a community of volunteers who can help across different areas of the Foundation - whether that’s assisting at upcoming events and functions, helping with fundraising initiatives, lending a hand behind the scenes, or simply joining our volunteer contact list for future opportunities.

If you would like to get involved and support the work we do, please email us at [email protected]

Or pop in a comment below and we will be in touch.
