I've been cheating on Barry the Brave . And I fear there's no going back. 😂

While Bianca's off road tripping and visiting Bonney Energy , I've taken it upon myself to upgrade our living arrangements.

I've officially reached elite status with Cruisin’ Motorhome Rentals crossing Australia from east to west with three highway terrors and a rather inflated sense of adventure.

Somewhere along the way I decided that 15 hours behind the wheel, three children and one iPad was a perfectly reasonable combination. The iPad has since become the most contested piece of real estate in Australia.

We've conquered mountains, crossed the Nullarbor in record time (probably not a record anyone was chasing), found beaches that are almost offensively beautiful and squeezed two months of sightseeing into two weeks.

I've lost track of the days, gained a few grey hairs and developed an unhealthy attachment to the 30 seconds of privacy afforded by the motorhome toilet.

And despite the occasional urge to list all three dependants on Facebook Marketplace, this has been one hell of an adventure.

Barry, I still love you. But I've had a taste of luxury, and sleeping above the driver's cabin with an actual mattress has really opened my eyes.

Sorry mate. 😂

One of the very best things about Barry has been the people he’s brought into our lives along the way 🩷💜

Before we headed off on the rally, we were lucky enough to spend some time with the wonderful humans behind Sherwood Loves Tasmania – one of Barry’s incredibly generous supporters and a pretty magical little corner of Tassie.

UPDATE: Barry lives.

One call to Rally Dad #2, a little timing adjustment and we’re running. Roughly, but running.

Anyway, now taking mechanical bookings. Turns out I do know my way around an engine bay.

All proceeds to cancer research. Results may vary.

SUPPOOOOORRRRRRTTTTT!!!!!

Turns out screaming it from the driveway doesn’t have quite the same effect as it does on rally.

Barry is bust. Between Bianca and I, we have the mechanical knowledge of two house plants, and unfortunately there’s no Support crew appearing over the horizon to save us.

So we’re calling in the next best thing. The internet.
Watch. Diagnose. Tag your mechanically gifted friends. Send help.

One of the very clear rally rules: do not clog up the radio with unnecessary chatter.

Bianca took this as a personal challenge.

A couple of drinks, a sudden passion for broadcasting and absolutely no understanding of what constitutes “necessary information” later…

I did what any responsible teammate would do and quietly unplugged the radio.

Post-Rally Awards Function: Instagram vs. Reality ✨

We scrubbed up. We took photos. We briefly believed we looked quite nice.

Then the professional photos dropped.

Our chins had other plans.
