WE’RE MOVING! And we need a few extra hands!

Burnie Musical Society is moving into our new storage facility, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to Burnie City Council for helping make our new home possible.

Now comes the fun part… moving everything. 😅
We’re rallying the troops for Saturday 12 September and would love some volunteers who can help with the heavy lifting.

When: Saturday 12 September
Time: On site (Mooreville Rd) and ready to start loading the truck from around 10am
Payment: Our eternal gratitude… and PIZZA!

There’ll be plenty to move, so many hands really will make light work.

A quick safety note: Please wear closed, sturdy shoes or boots and protective gloves. Some of the items we’ll be moving are heavy and may have sharp edges.

There’s singing, dancing, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of energy happening behind the scenes as Burnie Musical Society gets ready to bring SISTER ACT to the Burnie Arts stage this October!

I may be slightly biased 😉 but this is shaping up to be an absolute cracker of a show. Rehearsals are well and truly underway and this fabulous cast is working incredibly hard.

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a Sister Act actor looks like?

Well… apparently it involves going to work, causing a bit of chaos, commandeering a golf cart and turning your workplace into your own personal Sister Act marketing campaign.

Our fabulous Toby has been making sure absolutely NO ONE at the Country Club can say they didn’t know the show was on.

Staff? He’s told them.
Members? They know.
Random people within golf-cart range? Consider them informed.

All in a day’s work when you’re part of Sister Act.

Meet our fabulous featured nuns - the sisters bringing the laughs, the music and plenty of holy chaos to Sister Act.

Alongside our Deloris, Allison, they’re finding their voices, discovering their rhythm and proving that sometimes all a choir needs is a little divine intervention… and a seriously good beat.

Curtis has arrived… and he didn’t come alone.
Meet Curtis and his thugs, four men bringing bad decisions, big attitudes and just the right amount of chaos to the streets of Sister Act.

Played by Elliott Goodwin, Tobias Doherty, Jamen Porteus and Bradley Martin, these boys might think they run the show… but they’re about to discover that taking on Deloris and a convent full of nuns is a little harder than expected.

Dangerous? Absolutely.
Intimidating? They’d like to think so.

MEET OUR AMAZING STAGE MANAGER JAYME-LEE

ABOUT JAYME-LEE:
Jayme-Lee Townsend has been part of the community theatre world for the past ten years, performing and working with Burnie Musical Society, Encore Performing Arts Studio, DoMaur Productions and B&C Events.

After taking a little break from the big stage, Jayme-Lee is back behind the scenes as our wonderful Stage Manager for Sister Act!

THEATRE EXPERIENCE:
Jayme-Lee has plenty of experience both on stage and behind the scenes. Most recently, she was a choreographer and cast member of DoMaur Productions' American Idiot in 2024.

Now, she's helping keep our Sister Act cast and crew organised, on track and ready to bring this fabulous show to life!

OUTSIDE OF THEATRE:
When she's not at rehearsals, Jayme-Lee works as a pharmacy assistant.

In her spare time, you'll likely find her playing Stardew Valley or cutting and dyeing her own hair. In fact, she hasn't been to a hairdresser in eight and a half years!

FAVOURITE MUSICAL:
Choosing just one is difficult because Jayme-Lee has plenty of favourites, but Hadestown takes the top spot!

We’re so lucky to have Jayme-Lee as part of our incredible production team, helping make the magic of Sister Act happen behind the scenes.
