The Bungendore Brigade of the NSW Rural Fire Service has served the Bungendore and surrounding community for over 75 years. The brigade is available to respond to calls for help 24x7, 365 days a year. The Bungendore Brigade trains twice a month, with many members seeking further training in specialist skills outside of this. We meet weekly to check our vehicles and equipment and to catch up socially.

Thanks to the Carlton and Buckingham Estate communities today. We had a great training and engagement session with you all and were so grateful for you taking some time to have a chat about fire season preparation, how to better prepare your homes, and for us to better understand your part of our wonderful community.

Carlton and Buckingham Estates we're coming for you!
On Saturday 10 October Bungendore RFS will be doing training in both locations practising our fire fighting skills. At the same time we will have a Community Engagement stand for you to come and say hello and ask about preparing you and your property for the fire season. Check your letterbox for timings and locations. Come and say hello and let's have a chat about how prepared you are.

Hello all, as of tomorrow, 1 October with have entered the Bushfire Danger Period, and anyone wishing to conduct pile burns or any other type of burn activity will require a permit to do so. Once your permit is approved you have responsibilities to inform your local fire authority and neighbours at least 24 hours in advance of the burn. If you have any questions please send us a message.

Don’t give embers something to burn. Clear away
doormats, wood piles, mulch, leaves and outdoor furniture
from around your house to help prevent a bush fire from
reaching your property. A well-prepared home is far more

Update 1230 - the pile has been handed back to the owner. Smoke will still be seen by those coming down Smiths Gap. It will be regularly patrolled by the owner and we will pop out this afternoon and tomorrow. If you see any unattended fires please ring 000.

Update 1110 - the pile is burning down well. Smoke will be seen if coming down Smiths Gap. The landowner has excellent resources available to control this into the late afternoon.

Today we are out on Lake Road supporting a local landholder with a pile burn. If you see any unattended fires elsewhere in the area please dial 000.

Small jobs now can make a big difference later. Be prepared.

A number of notified burns this afternoon and evening on Lake Road and Tarago Road. These are well controlled by the land owners, and we have had discussions with them.
Thank you to our great community for your vigilance. If you see any fire without any obvious people around it keeping an eye out please call 000.

🚒 Our night training on Saturday was great.
Brigade members participated in a vehicle fire training exercise at the Bungendore Sports Hub to practise responding safely and effectively to vehicle incidents.
🔥 Crews had the opportunity to work with a live fire training prop, allowing firefighters to experience realistic fire behaviour in a controlled environment.
👨‍🚒 The exercise focused on scene size-up, safe appliance positioning, hose deployment, and crew coordination during a vehicle fire response.
🤝 It was great to see strong turnout from across the brigade, with members gaining valuable hands-on experience and building confidence working together on the fireground.
