It’s not every day you celebrate a hip surgery! But it’s not every day you celebrate the incredible way God has been working despite a tragedy.

Two months ago a family in Tanna, Vanuatu were involved a horrific accident. Thirteen members of the same extended family were all involved. There were some very serious injuries and one fatality.

Rael, the mother and grandmother presented with the some difficult injuries, which included a severely dislocated hip and fractured pelvis. Local medical staff were uncertain of how to handle her condition so we began to ask if someone could oversee her case from Australia.

We were told about a doctor from Brisbane who was training orthopaedic surgeons in Fiji. We boldly asked if he could be involved and would he be prepared to travel to Vanuatu if we paid for his airfares.
He said yes.

There is no doubt Dr Des was hand picked by God to help Rael. Dr Des used to work for the leprosy mission, has a kind and compassionate heart, trains orthopaedic surgeons in the Pacific and is a Christian man serving in his local church.
Who better to send to operate on Rael to realign her hip and restore it?

But wait there is more.
After doing Rael’s surgery he noticed Joshua’s broken hand and could see it was not set properly. He said that wasn’t good enough, so he then operated on Rael’s son and fixed his hand and arm too!

Rael it still in hospital but has now begun physio. The rest of the family still need regular medical care too but they are all hoping to return to Tanna before Christmas!

Thank you to all those who prayed! Be assured God has heard your prayers! Your prayers have made a difference! Please keep praying for the family for healing of the body and the heart!
Thank you to everyone who has also donated money for Shem & Rael’s family to stay close to the hospital and to help pay bills! You have blessed this family in their most urgent time of need! Your gift has made a difference!

Thank you!
God, thank you!

Thank you for your prayers! Thank you for your donations! Your support, care and prayers have made such a difference!
Praise God everyone has been discharged from the hospital … everyone except Rael!

Rael cannot get the surgery she needs in Vanuatu though.
Her broken hip and pelvis need urgent care!

Please join us in praying Rael gets the surgery and care she needs and the right doors open for her!

Please also continue to pray for the family who have a lot of healing and grieving to still go through!

We appreciate everyone’s genuine love! Thank you!

Hospitals can be dark, lonely places and for Shem and Rael, our friends from Tanna Vanuatu, that’s certainly true!

There was an accident with their ute, loaded with 13 people, many of them small children, and it flipped over!

Shem has an injured shoulder and Rael has a broken hip and possible pelvic fracture. Josh and little Kelly are in intensive care. One grandchild has passed away and the others in the children’s ward. A couple of them have been discharged with minor injuries!

They have asked if we would stand with them in prayer and pray for God to be merciful and compassionate towards them!

We are the body of Christ and when one part hurts, we all do! So let us stand together in prayer for this beautiful family!

If you would like to financially support them, any donation will be passed on! Please mark gifts Emergency Care!

In many other countries, trucks and utes, become public transport! They are the local “buses”!

This morning, we received an urgent message for prayer from our beautiful friends in Tanna. There was an accident and 13 people - all who are members of Shem and Rael’s family - were involved and flown from the island to Port Vila. Mr Shem and Rael are injured and sadly one of their grandchildren died plus Joshua and little Kelly are both in intensive care!

They have asked if we would stand with them in prayer and pray for God to be merciful and compassionate towards them! To have so many members of his family all involved in the one incident is overwhelming!

We have seen God work miracles before. Pastor Joseph from Uganda was in a serious accident and he should have died but God saved his life and rescued him from the grave!
Let us pray that God might move again with this family so they too may testify!

If you would like to financially support them, any donation will be passed on! Please mark gifts Emergency Care!

Some friends from Australia recently visited our friends in Uganda. Our Aussie travellers met people in various communities, saw first hand some of their struggles, were welcomed into some of our partner projects and encouraged everyone they met.

Our African friends shared their homes and hearts, chatted over meals and taught about life on the land. Both parties learnt new lessons, were encouraged and prayed for.

What a blessing to be able to walk hand in hand with each other!

The intern students with Alliance Church Woden Valley have been busy the last couple of days, making food parcels to hand out.
They travelled to some remote villages near Battambang sharing the good news of Jesus, praying with people, and helping with the practical provision of food and student supplies.

Well done team, as you continue to travel through Cambodia sharing the love of Jesus with those you meet!

The team is currently in Cambodia and have already had a few big days!

They visited a Khmer Methodist church in Kampong Chhnang and experienced church in a completely new way. The church prayed for mothers, and asked one of our team to join them. The church also spent 15mins in corporate prayer for our team - all in Khmer - and after, one of our team was healed of stomach issues, for they had prayed for our health and God answered!

Driving back to Phnom Penh, our team had 4 “stop the bus” moments, where they were prompted by God to find and pray for someone in the community … and they found all of them!

The following day they visited Josh Blanchard, at his not for profit production studio Ruang Studios. The studio employs and trains local Khmer in full video and audio production, working with clients to help them further the gospel. Our team led songs, teaching and an object lesson for the studios refocus and retreat day.

Our team has also experienced tuk tuks through the busy streets, the wonderful hospitality of the local people.

They are now gearing up for two days of school ministry, and then a weekend in Battambang visiting villages and sharing Jesus!

Please continue to pray for them as they travel through Cambodia. Pray for health, protection and divine appointments!

The last couple of years have been tough! I mean really tough! Just before COVID hit, God warned us a difficult season lay ahead, and we needed to send a team to Uganda before the doors closed! At the time, we had no idea of what that fully meant, but we have definitely felt the ramifications! Lockdowns, cancelled trips, key leaders with ongoing health issues, serious accidents, stolen possessions and stalled projects … and in all honesty, we have become a little discouraged! But God keeps reminding us not to become weary in doing good!

So instead, we have aimed to encourage others serving on the field, when God prompts us to pray into a situation we pray and trust God to deliver, we do a small task here, or a give a word there, but there has not been much to write about!

Yet, we are excited to say that this week we have a team heading to Cambodia! Please join us in praying for them, and stay tuned for their adventures.
Also pray with us as we seek God about what else we need to plan and prepare for regarding the future!
